Jim Buss just said that so you would remain interested and keep spending your money on the Lakers, and it worked. He's going no where, let it go.

If the team does not make the playoffs, he is not going to stay where he is.

Like I always said, it is a win win situation for the fans.

Either Jim does well and the team competes for a championship.

Or, the teams does not do well and he resigns from his position.

a win win situation.

The man should step down purely based on how he blew his load last summer and handed out 4 year deals like the money was set to expire.

Imagine had he taken the smart route and added guys on 2 year deals with team options. Hell, would Mozzy have then a a year $30MM deal? Couldhe not have brought in others besides Deng to provide the exact same or more? We'd probably have around the same wins but could enter the summer with 3 max offers (Noel, Hayward, _______). Would it matter, don't know but the opportunity to find out would have been great.

So we have 3 max slots for guys who wouldn't sign here. Not a solid move.

Even if superstars don't want to sign here, it's just being smart about money. Keep space available, maybe a trade that benefits the Lakers could go down? Who knows? Throwing out money has not only blocked max signings, which I'm not even looking at right now, but it's also limited options that the Lakers could have.

Neither of these players are really helping the team right now. They were horrible signings. Not going to use hindsight on the Deng deal, felt like a lot of money at the time but we thought we were getting the Luol Deng who was actually not dead for the Miami Heat last season.
