Kudos, Tarik Black was 14 & 8 with tremendous hustle in 19 minutes despite the ankle pain. |

I don't know if JR and Black don't play together often, or if I haven't noticed when they do, but they looked great together in the second quarter. I would like to see more of that. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

All hustle, no bullsh*t.
Great game last night.
It makes me wonder why can't Randle do this night in - night out. |

Despite their shortcomings, Tarik Black, Larry Nance Jr & T-Rob give more of themselves through heart, determination, hustle and effort than the supposedly more talented core does with their ability and potential. |

Exactly my point. They're motivated to make an impact EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, despite their lack of abilities and/or potential to be an All-Star.
Now imagine Randle's statline if the had the same mentality. |

Heck of a game from Black. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |

Lakers will have an interesting decision about black. Is he a long term keeper? Should we cough up the 6m on his deal to keep him and thereby lose a 7-9 year max slot? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I like his hustle and energy. And he has enough talent to make him productive.
I think we should keep him. |

Dude fumbles so many passes.
But, He's a great rebounder and he's beginning to pass out of the post instead of forcing up a bad shot when he has absolutely no chance of converting lol |

Dead horse here, but this is the flexibility that is lost when you overpay for certain players. Some think it's star or bust with salary cap but, in this case we could feel it by losing an above average bench big. Regardless I think you have to guarantee the contract. If need be, I'm sure we would be able to dump him. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Tarik has been really good lately. I'd love to have him next season, but I have a crappy feeling that the Mozgov contract will force the Lakers to opt out unless they stand pat. However, it could be good for Zubac to take over the backup mins full time next season. _________________ Austin Reaves

Who's even going to come? We'll find out in the moratorium that all the max free agents are uninterested, and that will be that. |

This is what ticks me off about the Mozgov deal -- re-signing Black should be a no-brainer decision. However, given that 17% of our cap (!) is stuck with our starting center you have to make trade-offs. |

Black lacks a jump shot to play the PF position, but alongside centers that can shoot it from the elbow like Mozgov and Zubac he has a lot of value because he is a good offensive rebounder and may be our best PF helping the helper. He did a good job alongside Zubac and now he did it again with Mozgov. |

TB really came to play last night. He played with a lot of good energy and tenacity. Nice effort on defense too. He's earning that 6 mil at this point.
13 rebounds, 7 points, 3 assists (+16). |

That means no max deal for a 7-9 year player. Is Tarik worth that to the Lakers? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

That's why his deal was structured the way it was to allow both the Lakers and Tarik time to figure it out. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

If we pickup his team option and trade Lou for cap space and picks in the summer could we still sign a max free agent? |

We could try to ditch 17% of our cap at SF, start our best SF and invest in perimeter D. |

Assuming young opts out yes. But barely enough for a 7-9 year vet. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

At some point, black becomes expendable if you're going to start getting minutes for Zubac and play Randle and Nance together. His second year was always a placeholder and trade sweetener. |

Unless they unload on a RFA, the easy answer is to keep Black. The UFA market really sucks. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |
