dude I really hate it but it's more important than anything that the Lakers keep the pick if they're going to hover around the 2-4 seeds. If they had a better record around the 7-8th spots, I'd be all for gutting out wins.

And I can argue the odds of us keeping the pick, but that's not the real rub. The real rub is hoping for a good performance from the Lakers, hating to see the Lakers lose, coming to a Laker fan site and putting up with the kind of comments you typically see from opposing team fans, all happy about Portland pulling ahead, or acting all pissed if one of our guys actually comes through for us.

That crap belongs on the Tank thread, or go to a Rip City fan site and cheer there.

UCLA was over rated.
No defense capability to speak of, and their offense was kinda shaky.
looked good in the preseason, but it was built out of tissues

That is just stupid, you hope our young players learn to lose games to get more young players that you hope will also learn to lose games. Dumb.

Philly not lookin so dumb...have to be smart...we need more talent. Maybe the trajectory changes, but as of right now, our young core appears a little short on talent. Bad off season decisions stole alot of flexibility. Nobody likes losing, but I am just not sure how your thinking winning a few more games is more beneficial to getting potentially the best player on the team.

honestly I get it. I'll try to cut it down in the game threads. I still really support the team and like them, I just think that this is the best path for their future.

they are #15 in KenPom, and I was shocked seeing them that high....they beat UK, but they are also overrated. If they were in the ACC or Big12, they would likely struggle to remain ranked.

I agree with not actually cheering for other teams players, or rooting against our players individually

i say this with a grain of salt cause the tank stays alive but not only should nance have gotten an and one for a foul on the head but then because of TYPICAL ref ineptitude same guy who elbows nance in the head runs down and gets a score? This league is in such serious trouble with terrible officiating. I mean it's becoming trump like, "alternative facts", dystopian brainwashing:
"there's no foul here,,, you didn't see anything"

I've seen worse calls...

Officiating wasn't the problem tonight. Complaining about refs isn't new, and the league isn't in trouble. Nowhere close

I know quite a few people who swore off the nba for it's goofy refs, and marketing designed for 13 year olds, another way of looking at it is espn losing viewership (look it up) because people are cutting the cord more. Also, the very concept of tanking will turn off fans in my opinion, and I know one guy in philly who stopped watching due to the tank. I didn't say officiating was the problem tonight chief, I was talking about poor nance probably getting concussed. Thanks for the attempt at being the witty contrarian tho

Thanks. Box score doesn't look pretty outside Lou, Clarkson and Zubac.

I missed the first half but some people said JC ran the point pretty well. He had a solid game. Rolled my eyes at the Lou takeover, Randle was a trainwreck in the 4th and just generally bad on defense all evening. Also early season Brandon is back.

Agree - it's really clear Zu's inexperienced in many areas, but for the things he does well, he does really well, and had an impact on this game. Great to see him set picks so well, for instance. And the shot blocking, 3 blocks tonight.

I thought Nance had his hustle moments too. He's starting to regain form.

Clarkson played in control this game, pretty good game for him. Young hit 50 percent from both short and long range. And of course Williams for 31.

Randle train-wreck layups aside, really some decent performances, it wasn't all bad.

Well, since the Blazers are the team behind whom the Lakers trail today in the arithmetic playoff chase for ninth place by six losses, I hope that playoff contention chatter quickly falls to a bare murmur around here. The Lakers are cooked.

That's a relief to me.

Now, I hope fan focus can be on playing together better. Results will come from playing well together, eventually.

Last night was tough. Portland had so many players getting any shot they wished. Third quarter blues again. Starters Deng, Mozgov and Calderon went for a combined 2-13 from the field. Core second teamers Nance, Zubac and Ingram combined for 6-24.

Sigh, ouch and ugh. Onwards and upwards, guys. Hang in there.
