Doctors remove surgical scissors 18 years after being left inside patient’s stomach

...and they retroactively added the cost of one pair of scissors to the patient's bill.

Probably figured out that an 18 year lease was better than a sale as well.

Someday surgeries will be done by robots and this won't happen anymore....until then....

Well, that's why nowadays in the Operating Room there's a person solely responsible for counting every item used during the surgical procedure (if 19 gauzes are used 19 must be put in its proper storage) and no one is allowed to leave the room until every piece is accounted for.
