Not justifying brutality, but why in the world would anyone resist arrest by police? What do they actually expect to accomplish?

Did you watch the video?

the whole problem is that the punishment didn't justify the crime. There is protocol of what to do regarding combative intoxicated individual, from physical restraint (both manual, straps, tazer) to transporting to emergency room for chemical restraint but never involved punch to the face

What really troubles me is, when policemen beat a person they use "stop resisting" as an excuse.

It's obvious Taylor wasn't resisting hearing the phrase is scary. If they get away with this it's going to allow similar confrontations to become the norm.

Had to bump this. I'm watching NCIS New Orleans. Agent jumped on a suspect, applied a choke hold while repeating over and over, STOP RESISTING.

It's TV the perp was resisting. Agent got his hat bought to him, his partner had to save his booty.

It struck a cord because the meme has gotten into TV scripts. It's used by real life cops daily.
