honestly do not know why they still play this game....nobody expects the guys to play defense 94 feet, but watching 10 guys participating in a shoot around and goof session is just not entertaining. Not a big baseball fan, but MLB has the only all star game that resembles the actual game.
It's cus there's nothing to play for. You'd get one hell of a game if finals home court was on the line
That probably wouldn't have much effect...
most of these guys know their teams aren't going to the finals -IT, Davis, RW, Droz - I could go on...
when they don't have a dog in the fight, they probably won't try very hard
$250k to the winners, $25k to the losers
then you'd see some effort

Making an exhibition game have something at stake is very dumb...just look at MLB when they gave home field to the winner. Luckily they realized their mistake after a decade....

Giannis, Russ and Marc kept this mildly entertaining. I mean I guess it's nice that they fed AD for the MVP (?) although his scoring "record" is misleading because they used to play All Star games like real games so scoring 42 points meant something back then. Anywhoo... All Star weekend happened...
Now let's see if the Lakers can get themselves together in some kinda way starting Friday... _________________ #IStillBelieveTaurean

terrible game this one, outside of some westbrook spurts. the rest of the guys didnt gave a (bleep), and some weird rotations by both coaches too, kawhi frozen out on second half, lebron barely played in the second also, giannis barely played in the fourth. meh
Those folks are likely looking ahead to the Playoffs and didn't want to play. During the All Star Games practices (more engaging than the game itself lol) both coaches asked the players about how much they wanted to play. Brad Stevens was mic-d up when he asked LeBron and I remember LBs number was rather low. _________________ #IStillBelieveTaurean
hopefully, they'll get a good 4 days of practice in now
maybe (pretty please) they'll even practice playing defense
i think they can only begin practice wednesday?
from the CBA
Players who do not attend or participate in the All-Star Game, Rookie Sophomore Game, or an All-Star Skills Competition shall have three (3)
days off during the All-Star Weekend break.
I can't find a section where it discusses players who were in an ASG event, but for everyone else it appears they can practice on Monday since ASG events began on Friday. _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

I thought Giannis was the most fun to watch. Really boring game though - was hoping for the usual "it gets competitive down the stretch" but it never happened.
Yea it use to be midway through the third they started playing D. Then it was at the beginning of the 4th they started playing D. Then midway through the 4th. Forget about it completely now. I don't blame Melo for not wanting to come.

What a disgrace. The NBA should be ashamed with that all star game.
That (bleep) show last night was gonna be hard to beat... I'm sad to say they got pretty damn close tonight. Just awesomely bad. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe.
Well you saw something you would never see in a real NBA game.....Steph Curry literally laying down on the floor so he wouldn't get posterized.
I think if the NBA wants to make this somewhat entertaining to watch they might have to change it to a tournament format like the NHL.

I don't really enjoy the All-Star game anymore. It's just people dunking or shooting threes uncontested. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
This all-star game really got me into the Greek Freak.
Also, props to Porzingis for winning the skills challenge. Another young guy I've just started following on youtube.

Porks and Turner are two exciting players from last year class that unfortunately are wearing the wrong jersey. Jokic is fantastic, but he is from Julius class. It may be nice when a GM is able to find a top 5 talent outside top 10. I find it so frustrating to watch good players selected after a miserable season. Tanking is good just when you find a superstar in the draft, anything short is a failure.

Not really.
Exhibitions are used to increase interest in the product.
The all-star 'layup line and uncontested 3' game actually diminishes interest.
And people sitting through or paying for 3 hours worth of what you will see if you get to a game 30 minutes early isn't helping things.
