I pointed this out last year and was shouted down for it. Oh well.

Edit: I do think he's made huge strides this year.

My criticism of him is still the same. He's lazy and thinks hes better than he really is.

he has said he wants to model his game after Draymond, so far that has to me meant he wants to get triple doubles like Draymond, but Draymond has no plays run for him and gets most of his stats by hustle and doing the dirty work.

I think Julius can be a similar player if he where to do all the dirty work and stop thinking he is the 1st option in the offense and always iso rather than share the ball

Yep. That is why it is so frustrating to watch him. If only he did the simple things. His iso game is just plain ugly.

You got "shouted down" for it because it was and still is a false narrative. In order for that you guys are saying to be true Julius would have ot be an ELITE offensive rebounder (which he isn't).

There' also a huge assumption being made that every offensive board he grabs is from one of HIS misses, while other guys who generally pull down more offensive boards are doing so off their teammates misses.

Well I don't know if he has made great strides this year. I mean he averaged a double double last year and he is not doing that this year. He has averaged 28.1 MPG for this season and last season.

Rebounding: 10.2 last year 8.1 this year
Scoring: 11.3 vs 12.9
Fg%: .429 vs .487
Ast: 1.8 vs 3.6

Blocks and steals are the same, Free throw % is the same.
TO's are up but he is handling the ball more so I think that is also a wash.

He is more efficient on offense and getting way more assists so that is good, but he is lazier at rebounding he has not improved his blocks or steals.

Considering how much hope I had for him improving this season with Luke as his coach I must say I am disappointed. The sad thing is he rarely shows any fire on the floor. He does not hustle most of the time, does not set screens and does not always run back on D.

I hope Magic has a come to jesus talk with him and he improves his hustle and effort on the floor.

ok guise

so according to the play by play on espn.com

in that bulls game...mans was getting his shots sent all over the stratosphere and missing all the bunnies...so he was getting them free o rebs for sure

but he also had 11 drebs...so that game aint necessarily in the narrative

gsw game

I counted 5 of the 6 orebs off of other people's misses
yall can check here tho

http://www.espn.com/nba/playbyplay?gameId=400899528
the search for the truth shall continue later

His rebounding has dipped because he no longer has Sacre and Bass to share the floor with.

ok guise

jazz game

he only missed 3 shots that game...but had 6 orebs

5 of them were not a result of a missed layup (4 teammate misses and 1 off of his own free throw miss)
http://www.espn.com.au/nba/playbyplay?gameId=400899917

yall really gotta check my work tho because I am almost legally blind

edit: the other jazz game

2 of the orebs were a result of his own miss

and 2 weren't

so I cant call it guise...is getting 2 of your own orebs too many to make it a legit double digit rebound game?

guise

i went to check on the knicks game

on bball reference both games against say he only had 2 orebs

are those number right?

if they are ion think we need to check that game do we?

I mean its only 2 guise

he should be able to have those

edit:

guise I checked it anyway

http://www.espn.com/nba/playbyplay?gameId=400899802

1 oreb was the result of him eating leather
the other was the result of brandon eating leather
both were the result of stupid mitch not drafting porzingod

so thats seems like a legit dublee digit rebound game to me guise

iono iono

So he's capitalizing off of his teammates misses ? How dare he grab offensive rebounds. (bleep) stat padder. A good respectable rebounder has 0 offensive rebound.

I'll take 1 iono iono on if he'll be good. I would pay to be a fly on the wall when the existing brass tells Magic, Julius aint all that, in reality - and he's they're 4th/5th favorite prospect

Magic might throw his hands down and leave the room

Also as far as Randle's turnovers being up. It doesn't have to do with his passing.

Not all TO's are created equal. But let's look at the vast improvement he's made in taking care of the ball.

# of his Turnovers as a result of a Bad Pass
2015-2016 41
2016-2017 11

That's a significant improvement. Look forward to hopefully seeing it continue to improve.

You're allowed to play hard Julius. It won't kill you to dive on a loose ball or play defense.

I have a feeling he's going to be the most "trade-able" of our young stars. If we get a top 2 pick, DLO too since the top 2 PGs in the coming class are incredible (Ball and Fultz).
