to put this in right thread in DLO thread I said that whenever Julius gets 10 rebs he usually has 5 offensive because of rebounding his own misses, was told its a false narrative this is what I found in games this season
vs GS 14 TRB 6 ORB
vs Dal 10 TRB 5 ORB
vs Uta 11 TRB 4 ORB
vs Hou 10 TRB 5 ORB
vs NY 10 TRB 4 ORB
vs UT 12 TRB 6 ORB
while not the norm for every game in a majority of his 10 rebound games THIS year half of those are offensive rebs so it is NOT a false narrative we see it on a nightly basis
I pointed this out last year and was shouted down for it. Oh well.
Edit: I do think he's made huge strides this year.
My criticism of him is still the same. He's lazy and thinks hes better than he really is.
he has said he wants to model his game after Draymond, so far that has to me meant he wants to get triple doubles like Draymond, but Draymond has no plays run for him and gets most of his stats by hustle and doing the dirty work.
I think Julius can be a similar player if he where to do all the dirty work and stop thinking he is the 1st option in the offense and always iso rather than share the ball

Yep. That is why it is so frustrating to watch him. If only he did the simple things. His iso game is just plain ugly. _________________ Don't let perfect be the enemy of good

You got "shouted down" for it because it was and still is a false narrative. In order for that you guys are saying to be true Julius would have ot be an ELITE offensive rebounder (which he isn't).
There' also a huge assumption being made that every offensive board he grabs is from one of HIS misses, while other guys who generally pull down more offensive boards are doing so off their teammates misses.

Well I don't know if he has made great strides this year. I mean he averaged a double double last year and he is not doing that this year. He has averaged 28.1 MPG for this season and last season.
Rebounding: 10.2 last year 8.1 this year
Scoring: 11.3 vs 12.9
Fg%: .429 vs .487
Ast: 1.8 vs 3.6
Blocks and steals are the same, Free throw % is the same.
TO's are up but he is handling the ball more so I think that is also a wash.
He is more efficient on offense and getting way more assists so that is good, but he is lazier at rebounding he has not improved his blocks or steals.
Considering how much hope I had for him improving this season with Luke as his coach I must say I am disappointed. The sad thing is he rarely shows any fire on the floor. He does not hustle most of the time, does not set screens and does not always run back on D.
I hope Magic has a come to jesus talk with him and he improves his hustle and effort on the floor. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss

in that bulls game...mans was getting his shots sent all over the stratosphere and missing all the bunnies...so he was getting them free o rebs for sure
but he also had 11 drebs...so that game aint necessarily in the narrative
gsw game
I counted 5 of the 6 orebs off of other people's misses
yall can check here tho
Dang his only at 8.1rpg this year? sorry to pile on Anph but I'm trying to pile on
i mean...its safe to assume that he was getting some of them kevin love drebs
ALSO....MAYBE ITS BECAUSE EVEN THO HIS DEFENSE TRASH HE'S STILL TRYING KINDA...A LIL BIT... AND THATS WHY THE NUMBERS DIPPED CUZ HE AINT SITTING UNDER THE RIM LOOKING LIKE A FOOL WITH HIS PANTS ON THE GROUND ALL THE TIME BUT ONLY LIKE 71.2% OF THE TIME
you ever think of that you meany face? ...huh...did ya?
hahahahah ^ I agree man. Decent amount more effort on D -> less boards.
I actooooally , never thought he was an great rebounder but that's not here nor there roiight

das cuz you a player hater now fam, ever since he grew his hair out you been treating him different because you hate his hair so much and it made you a full hater to the maximum times 5000 infinities....everything I said just now was facts guise trust me
1 oreb was the result of him eating leather
the other was the result of brandon eating leather
both were the result of stupid mitch not drafting porzingod
so thats seems like a legit dublee digit rebound game to me guise
iono iono

So he's capitalizing off of his teammates misses ? How dare he grab offensive rebounds. (bleep) stat padder. A good respectable rebounder has 0 offensive rebound.
I'll take 1 iono iono on if he'll be good. I would pay to be a fly on the wall when the existing brass tells Magic, Julius aint all that, in reality - and he's they're 4th/5th favorite prospect
Magic might throw his hands down and leave the room

I have a feeling he's going to be the most "trade-able" of our young stars. If we get a top 2 pick, DLO too since the top 2 PGs in the coming class are incredible (Ball and Fultz). _________________ "He may say it's not you, it's him.... but it's really you."
