What are you guys fantasizing about dumping contracts for? To try to sign DeMarcus Cousins in a year and half with an even younger team than we have now? |

Yeah, because the front office had a gun put to their head this summer, mandating that they must waste 4 years 136 million dollars right? |
Well, it's hard to deny that they didn't have a gun put to their head. |
Pressure to win doesn't mean you go out and waste money. Most people knew these deals were horrible the minute it was announced. If not, it's completely obvious at this point that it was a 136 million dollar mistake, do you not agree? I just didn't appreciate being patronized for voicing my opinion earlier on in the season about how horrible these deals were. I think it's painfully obvious now that not even the biggest Jim/Mitch defenders can defend these signings. |
I blame Jennie to put pressure on the front office with unrealistic expectation in such a short period of time just like how she threw Magic to the fire today. |

They are probably here to stay... Their deals however will become valuable during the trade deadline in the last year of their deals so its always that to look forward to. |

I wouldn't have incompetence in other Front Offices as a key tenet of a plan to improve things. |

yup, after this season, only 3 more years left! Doesn't sound so bad;)
Interesting comments about the Moz buy-out though. If he continues to ride the pine, it might be something he is interested in. Seems like he is a very competitive guy. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

Exactly. Gives us more cap flexibility and him the chance to find a better situation. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |

I don't think buyouts work like that. If you owe me $15MM a season for the next 3 seasons and we agree to a $20MM buyout then the $15MM still hits the cap for the next 3 years, you simply saved $25MM by not paying me.
The only way to get cap relief from Moz or Deng is to stretch them. You can extend the remainder of their contracts over double of the amount of years remaining + 1. So if they were stretched this summer you could spread the remaining balance of their contract over 7 years instead of 3. |

I wonder if Mitch and Jim consulted Jesse Buss and Ryan West on these signings. The scouting section seems to do a much better job evaluating talent.
I think we're stuck with both; we're gonna have the most expensive bench in the NBA.
Someone needs to tell Magic not to get Derrick Rose or Carmelo. |
