Let's just put it this way. Would you rather watch the NFL playoffs this weekend, or watch a week of women's gymnastics involving teenage girls that you've never seen before?

Ironically, the superstar of the LA Olympics was Mary Lou Retton.

I think if the Olympics were held in LA, it would fit in between the dead period between the end of the NBA season and before college football and NFL season starts. The 1984 Olympics were held between July 28th and August 12th, so presuming a similar time period it would be enough time to clear the venues for both USC football and LA Rams/LA Chargers games.

US is unwilling to get in bed and bribe IOC officials so I'd be surprised that any US city will get another Olympics hosting anytime soon

I think Paris is the frontrunner just because they haven't hosted an Olympics in so long, and the 2024 Summer Games will be the 100th anniversary of the last games held in Paris.

Why not new orleans? They seem to be getting all the major sporting events since Katrina.

Only if you believe that the IOC cares about anything but making $$$$$.
The past venues where the Olympics have been held disproves that.

Wow, some of those actually look really good. We obviously have so many of the necessary venues already, and it was interesting to look at how many different places could be represented: Staples Center/LA Live, UCLA, USC, the Coliseum, the Rose Bowl, the Forum, Long Beach, Lake Perris, Santa Monica beach, Honda Center, Riviera Country Club...the list just goes on and on.

That said, I don't want to get in bed with the IOC.

Looks like we're updating but still keeping that 1984 pastel color scheme.

Bye.

Looks like most of the work will be printing the Olympics banners and logos to plaster all over the venues and buildings. Inglewood Stadium and LAFC stadium are under construction already. Only need to construct temporary venues for beach volleyball and the Olympic pools/diving venue. Still think LA is an underdog because ironically it is the most prepared out of the 2 venues left and there is little leeway for construction bribes and also Paris winning the bid would line up with them being 100 years from last hosting the event.

Looks like Paris will win 2024 while LA gets 2028.
