Just call the dumbest FOs in the league and try to get a "better" bad deal in exchange for ours. It's really the only way I could see us getting out of either deal that doesn't involve stretching one of them or giving up assets to get rid of them. I'd take Biyombo or Brook over Moz in a millisecond, and Crabbe over Deng any day. Throw in the Houston pick as sweetener, at most. It may seem lopsided in our favor, but you never know with some of these GMs...catch them on the right day and get lucky...
Lakers can't call themselves. We're talking about unloading two of the worst contracts in NBA history. I think Magic will be good, but he's no miracle worker.
What sucks is we just broke free from Kobe's horrible contract. No we have 4 seasons of MozDeng. I don't know what Jim & Mitch were thinking but left us with a nice goodbye present.

Like I said, love Mitch for what he achieved. But MozDeng warrants a dismissal.
Even the starchest Jim/Mitch defenders can't come up with mental gymnastics to defend these atrocious contracts anymore. Don't worry guys, veteran leadership and continuity!
What kills me is the people complaining about taking back Brewer when his contract is expiring next season. It is actually somewhat tradeable. Moz/Deng will probably be around for at least another 2 years.

It would have better to sign Kobe for $25mil a year for three years ($75mil total), than these two knuckleheads for fours years ($112mil total)!

There is no way they are going to DNP Mozgov for 3 more years. If they're not going to play him, they'll amnesty him I'd imagine. Not like we have anyone else on big contracts anyway.
Like mentioned before, there is no amnesty provision in the new CBA.
Therefore, only option is stretching them both.
Scenario #2: Waive next season or next offseason:
- Luol @ $18M '17-18 then $7.2M/5yrs
- Moz @ $16M '17-18 then $6.4M/5yrs
Scenario #3: Waive next next season or next next offseason:
- Luol @ $18M '18-19 then $6M/3yrs
- Moz @ $16M '18-19 then $5.3/3yrs
Dead cap money of:
1. $14.5M/7yrs
2. $13.6M/5yrs
3. $11.3M/3yrs
^Wonder if I did the math right?
Right, but new CBA doesn't take effect until next season right? Technically, couldn't we still amnesty him? (Or Deng).
We used our only Amnesty from the last CBA on Metta.
That's funny. I forgot about that. First player ever to be amnestied in a CBA and then make the team again X number years later?
He's the first Laker I can remember who was older than the coach.
Metta breaking all the norms. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”
1. If Monroe ($17.9 million) opts to stay with the Bucks for the 2017 - 18 season, they would have over $33 million being spent on two centers who are less than optimal.
2. They already shifted long term money away from the Center position with the trade of Plumlee for Hawes and Hibbert. Your trade proposal would have them reversing that move and adding long term salary back to the Center position.
Moz/Deng is absolutely horrible. It delays a full-fledged rebuild and a move toward serious contention by 2 years. And it is possibly a total disaster if it messes up the Lakers' ability to sign a 2nd or 3rd max free agent because Randle, DLo, and Ingram's rookies contracts end and they have to be resigned.
Randle and/or DLo probably have to be traded unless they becomes All-Stars because LA isn't going to be able to go after multiple premier FA's if they have to sign the young guys long term.
Moz/Deng are probably the 2 worst contracts in Lakers history given their ability, the roles their suited for, and where the Lakers currently are in the rebuilding progression.

Man, Mitch and Jim are such idiots. 32 million could have been used for a max level player and then perhaps another starter. Instead we have one of the worst players in the entire league in Deng a Center who isn't even in the top 20. Absolutely deserved to be fired for this alone. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

You are right of course.. but with the Lakers there is so much to complain about:
1. Their 31% winning percentage (or losing 69% of their games)
2. Their being only .012% ahead of the Suns for that number ping-pong ball spot.
3. Jim Buss's inabilities
4. Mitch's poor signings
5. Missing the good ole days
6. The coincidence that the Lakers will not have a winning season in the next four years.
7. The Nash deal
8. The Howard deal
9. The Kobe extension _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”
Stretch these two next offseason. They will take up 13.5 million of our cap for 5 years but we can will most likely be over after 2018 due to extensions for the young guys. That year is our last major attempt at a free agent haul and summer of PG13.

Deng looks completely finished so maybe he can retire and Lakers can take the rest of what they owe him off the cap
Lmao. Would you leave 54 million dollars on the table for no reason? Deng isn't retiring until he gets his money, and who could blame him?
I have hopes he will come into camp in better shape next season. He cant be content going out like this. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.'
