My line of thinking is that with Zubac you're getting some things that should, in theory, help the other guys in the starting lineup (or at least moreso than Tarik in the starting lineup). Better floor spacer, threat of a post game, better passer, more size, more rim protection. The obvious negative is PNR/PNP defense, but I agree with the premise that you throw him out there and see if he can figure out how to best play the angles in those kinds of scenarios. At the very least, he's getting reps at game speed and the coaching staff accumulates more footage to analyze. |

At the his point both will get ample playing time regardless of who starts. However I would like to see Zubac get more PT against starters. |

Black seems to be fulfilling that wish with his play. |

Little bit disappointed with his performance lately. I expected at least more boards and hustle. I didn't see any of that. He need to wake up soon or he will be replaced in that starting 5. Maybe to try Zubac? |

Efficient game and good effort by Tarik in 14 minutes.
11 points (5-7 fg), 5 rebounds, 2 blocks (+/- of +4). |

The early fouls have been hurting him, but nice to see him bounce back and take over in the 3rd Q. Luke obviously should've let him close the game, as well, but... |

Yeah, the tank was strong last night. A very winnable game. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

So glad to see T.Black come back alive after going MIA _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |

This was probably Tarik's best game since Zu came into the starting job. To stay in the league, he's going to need to finish at the basket at a consistent rate. |

He was definitely in a slump. Hopefully we has finally come out of it. He'll have to string along a few good games before we can be sure.

Tarik started out like a ball of fire tonight and finished with 15 points (6-7 FG), 9 rebounds (5 offensive) & 2 blocks.
Good thing he has picked it up because with Zu injured he is going to have an increased workload. |

Lakers are listing Tarik Black (who was out yesterday with a mild left knee sprain) as questionable for Wednesday’s game in San Antonio. |

I would take Robinson over him. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Why Lakers’ Tarik Black is confident about remaining on team
Quote: | Black used his exit meeting last week to have “real conversations” both with Johnson, general manager Rob Pelinka and Lakers coach Luke Walton.
So, the inquisitive Black asked Johnson and Pelinka a series of detailed questions regarding himself. The most pointed one: “Where do you see me in five years as a player?” Because of how Johnson and Pelinka answered his questions, including that one, Black walked away the meeting expressing confidence he will remain on the Lakers for the 2017-18 season. |

Im a big tarick fan. He's mature, he plays hard, he's unselfish. I wish he was a big taller, and could hit a mid range J though.
Is he worth his salary? In this salary cap environment, yes. Can we replace him with a guy making minimum or slightly above to replicate 75% of what he does? Probably.
That said, is still keep him this year. I don't see how we get any of the big free agents so might as well hang onto him and perhaps sign him to a reasonable long term deal in a year. |

Tarik is a solid back up big. Undersized but athletic and can chase stretch 4s in limited time |
