Idk why but I find this guy & their family dynamic w/ bball pretty interesting.
I think it will be interesting for NBA PR teams when Lonzo gets to the league. GT had a good point and said it wouldn't be a problem for the Lakers because we have a guy like Magic who could tell him to shut the hell up and he'd respect it.
Aside from father his talented sons, what has Lavar Ball achieved in his life to be talking smack to other accomplished athletes? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Okafor's dad is a loudmouth as well, but Philly seemed to have managed him ok. But it will be even harder to contain LaVar when popular media outlets are booking him for TV appearances. I guess all it takes for you to get on national sports shows is to spout outlandish opinions.
I found him pretty objectionable before seeing those two videos, but after watching both with an open mind, I think he's alright ...
I still have serious doubts that Lonzo will ever meet his expectations in the NBA, but whatever ... he's a dad ... it's OK if he overvalues his own kid.

The interview he did on Undisputed was a good peek into who he is. He is supremely confident in himself, his sons and how he raised them. He put his statements regarding Curry in perspective. The bottom line is, in this regard, dude's just marketing their brand. Says the outlandish thing, gives an interview in full BBB garb to put said statements in proper (more reasonable) perspective and moves on to the next outlandish statement. Is it the smartest approach? Is it something I'd personally have the mind to do? No and no. But, for all intensive purposes, it's working.
What I do like is that his kids all play with a bit of a calm and quiet disposition and Lonzo in particular only seems to care about winning. It's like he's just the hype man and lightning rod. _________________ We back.
The guy obviously did a good job raising his kids, which is something the majority of america struggles with... yet everyone wants to tear into him?
Maybe i dont mind because my pops is just like he is, and i feel he did a great job as a dad and has had a really positive impact on my life. He doesnt (bleep), and he has earned my respect. As he once told me.. "if i ever see you lay hands on a woman, i'll personally smack living sh!t out of you. I don't care how old you are, no son of mine will do that".
Just because people dont agree with the way he parents doesn't mean it is incorrect.. the proof is there, at least its effective.
imagine we draft Lonzo and have Lavar rip the team on twitter when we lose
Lavar: DLO, he's a bust. My son should be the "PG." DLO is a "SG." The boy should stop touching Ball's ball. (repeat same crap we hear on LG...) _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

He's vocal, no doubt but he's taught his kids to point to teammates when the team wins and to accept the responsibility when they lose. And, based on Lonzo's approach to the game, it reflects a player whose intentions is far more weighted on winning than individual accolades. So, at least for now anyhow ... _________________ We back.
It's a risk drafting him. If someone drafts him and his son doesn't get playing time or isn't heavily involved on offense, then his dad will go off via the media and it was create a distraction for whatever team he is on.
His son better be damn good for a team to deal with his dad's drama _________________ Dominating every day.

the results are in:
his son is pretty damn good.
Preliminary results. I'll wait until he dominates in the NBA, which he vary well could do. _________________ Dominating every day.

Has there been an instance where LaVar criticized Lonzo's teammates, listening to his interviews he doesn't come off as that type of parent _________________ My Dream Starting 5 next Season

Yeah the Undisputed Interview was a really good one, and allows you to see how he is, outside of quotes and buzzwords on twitter.

My take - LaVar should not have gone after Barkley with the "Not a champion" insult the other day; Chuck should not criticize LaVar's parenting.
Barkley had no business going into the home of a father in the first place. What LaVar said about him is sticking to basketball. Barkley got some nerve to try to tell a father what he should and shouldn't do about his kids when he has no clue their dynamic and probably never spoke a word to Lonzo a day in his life. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Sounds like a helicopter dad....does he overrate his son's talent? Definitely.
That being said his sons seem well behaved and respect authority figures and don't seem to be into the partying lifestyle. I think they'll be OK.
