Could you elaborate?

What mistakes drafting wise are you referring to?

This guy is still pining for Okafor.

Sssssh I know his dislike for Russell and how much he liked Okafor, but I want him to bury himself .

There is no way he can still be bitter about that. So I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and thinking maybe it's something else.

Would like to hear his explanation.

Is there a video of the introduction? The one on lakers.com ends rather abruptly, there seemed to be more after it.

Does anyone else think this guy is low key nuts? Not in a bad way. There can be good crazy

ok but do you mean 'i was inspired by 50 shades of grey' nuts or like 'first one in the gym and last to leave kobe' nuts. wait.

he did say you could replace the K in Lakers with a C which then gives you Lacers and a lace is something you could strangle people with, right

More of the latter, like he for sure had those Kobe friendship similes written for years (might have even wrote them WITH Kobe) but also both. My theory on people is that if you're really really good at something you have to be a little unhinged.

I noticed that he speaks with the same pace and similar nuances as Kobe -- careful and calculated with his words, and with an endearing quality, yet you get the sense that he doesn't f*ck around. You can't help but think that some of that Mamba edge has rubbed off on him over the years. I'm sold.

Didn't get that at all. That's not necessarily a bad thing because Kobe often came off as an arrogant d--k in interviews. I do suspect he has a killer instinct. I don't think you can be successful in his profession without one.

I'm optimistic, but was all over this as well. After hearing how smart RP was, I hoped to hear at least "on court" direct basketball related expectations, even when some things can't be clear just yet. Hopefully this was the introductory lovey dovey interview and things shake out with this "vision".

I know all about the laker brand, market, off court opportunities, etc. Let's at least touch on the knowledge and difference from the last regime. At least with mitch, I was paused by his poker face to think he was keeping his plan to himself.

We'll see though.

Oh god just noticed my join date to post ratio.....

I heard Pelinka was the CEO of his sports agency. Isn't the Lakers GM job a downgrade financially?

I would understand if he came up with an anagram, but dropping and replacing a letter, then you still have to mix it around.. LOL! Imagine if JIm Buss said something stupid like that.

"If you drop the K and add a S, you get Laser, which is the type of GM I'll be, laser sharp!"

Lets give him a break though. He hasn't had a press conference since forever, and was just trying a bit too hard.

We don't know any of the details of that. It's quite possible he has just transitioned to "non-voting" shares and that satisfies any conflicts of interest with the NBA. He could still have the same equity stake. Or, alternatively, he just cashed out and made $300mm. Not bad either. Don't worry about his finances.

I heard that he sold the agency to his younger brother, Chad Pelinka.

If you change the K into a C that would make us the Los Angeles Lacers. Maybe it's tied into some sort of shoe deal with Adidas or Nike.

And the fact that he kept talking about "Lakers 2.0" means he obviously never spent any time on Lakersground.

I try to be coherent about that.

Julius is from the same class of Jokic, but most teams also did this "mistake".

Last season Dlo came back after the all star break killing it and I thought he could even challenge KAT keeping that level of the play, but he couldn't and faded. This season he came back improved over the version that finished last season, but it was not before Lou's departure that he elevated his game to the level of players like Porzingis and Myles Turner. Can he keep it for the season and improve going forward I'd feel perfectly fine to tell he was a great 2nd pick, but just like in the beginning, it is up to him I'm just a fan looking at the stats, the person that can actually make the stats look better is Dlo. I really like the way he is playing and I'm often praising him about that.

Things I liked
- He's a sharp, laser-focused, dedicated worker. Just the vibe I got.
- Sounds like he wants to unite the organization at the top when it was previously divided (due to ALL PARTIES)
- Decisions are going to be made after hearing everyone out, with an emphasis on Magic and Luke's input. Discussion and debate seems to be embraced
- Assertive personality type, right off the bat, charismatic, an absolute polar opposite of Mitch which isn't a slight to him but rather it's exciting to experience a total 180
- Wants to not only catch the Lakers up to what other teams are doing, but also turn the Lakers into innovators.
- I actually really liked that he challenged the young players, and how Magic did too. Nothing wrong with that. Let's see if they respond.
- Could be a force in FA planning and meetings
- Doesn't sound hesitant to make moves, another difference in his approach from the last regime
- I like that Magic said he hired Pelinka to fill in everything that he's weak in from an ownership/management standpoint. Really smart and they're definitely opposites.
- The Luke gif

Things I didn't like
- All the Lakers Exceptionalism talk. I think that was just him pandering to Facebook Nation but it always disappoints me to hear it's alive and well up top.
- The Kobe stories and metaphors were just over the top and hilarious. Bro your son split his head open and you call KOBE? OKAY THEN
- In general he was laying it on a little thicc
- It didn't bother me but man you could tell that this guy is in love with himself. He had his opening statement at the presser written for years. Dramatic sighs. It was an Oscars speech, which is fitting for working for the Lakers I think. He talked about Kobe more than his own family
- It does sound like Magic will have an input in basketball decisions based on him chiming in, I disagree with people saying Pelinka deferred to Magic, but they both spoke openly on basketball questions. Concerning. But Magic also said they're looking into another Assistant GM.
- Kobe is revered like a war hero and it's a little cringey. There's respect and worship and the Lakers are trending towards the latter. Sounds like they'd give him anything he wants in terms of a role in the organization, or if he has input on certain players... Don't know how I feel about that.

My dislikes are really petty so I think overall it was good and he's promising.
