Quote:
The Cavaliers have reached an agreement on a contract with free agent big man Larry Sanders, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical (Twitter link). Sanders, who will make his return to the NBA after two years away from the league, will likely get a second-year option for 2017/18 on his new deal, adds Charania.

So who plays Center for them without both Bogut and Sanders? 6'9 Tristan Thompson?

Imagine if losing Mozgov turns out to be the reason they don't repeat.

Thompson and Frye are the Cavs centers, but when it really counts Lebron is going to be their rim protector just like in last year's Finals. And they're not really playing any great centers - Valenciunas could hurt them for stretches, but I bet the Cavs play him off the floor with Frye and Love.

He really was nothing more than a cheap, low-risk roll of the dice after bogut went down. Apparently, he simply wasn't ready to play in the NBA. Hes the type of guy that requires a lot of management and it looks like they simply didn't even want him as a distraction sitting at the end of the bench, and would rather have a d League player instead. Hopefully he'll be able to pull his act together someday

How else you explaine the steep decline in defense

Well Mosgov didn't played much last year (and hardly at all in the playoffs), so it's hard to believe his leaving really affected the defense much. Losing Dellavedova probably mattered more.

Their decline in defense was probably mostly about just the fatique that often comes after winning a ring.

Sanders apparently missed the team bus, so no surprise he was dropped.

Mozgov is a serviceable Center. Not a great one, but serviceable.

Channing Frye is not.

Just realized Bucks are still paying him for 5 more years, plus with this year's stash from the Cavs, he'll be (well) lit for a while.

The Cavs' curious four-week Larry Sanders experiment

Quote:
The timing of Sanders’ release from the Cavaliers -- the day after the team spent its second consecutive night in the temptation trap that is Miami -- raised eyebrows, but Griffin insists it was not a reactionary move by the Cavs based on Sanders going off track.

Nobody is irreplaceable in the NBA....you have a limited window to earn that big fat multi-million dollar paycheck and once you leave somebody else will take your place. Larry Sanders found out the hard way.

I don't think Larry Sanders really wants to play in the NBA. From what I've read about him, maybe he feels like playing basketball is too superficial for him what all the other stuff he has to deal with. It has nothing to do with weed though.
