You can name a number of years when the Lakers lost, it was due to injuries.

Worthy, Magic, Pau, etc.

This is the way of the NBA and why ultimately you either have to have invincible players like Kobe or a really deep team.

They gave up their depth for Durant....
Nevertheless the losses don't mean much in the regular season. I think they finally figured out that the regular season doesn't mean anything pertaining to winning a championship other than jockeying for position. They learned that hard lesson last year. I bet they would trade that one extra win in the regular season for the one win they couldn't get in the Finals....

Aside from depth, Curry has also fallen off a cliff. Went from being back-to-back MVP to a lower end top 10 player.

You can't have a team deep enough to sustain key injuries through the playoffs, regular season sure, but not the playoffs. Talent differential is just never large enough for it to be plausible, so you have to just live with it.

The two are connected. Opposing teams can defend Curry more effectively when there is no inside threat and no Durant.

Even with Durant, his percentages were down. I think he's less effective off-ball.

It was fun to root for them for a while. It was kind of a shock to see them blow that 3-1 lead, but hey, even superteams implode.

He still has more help than most though.

They might be better without Lavine. Dude is a talented athlete but has no idea how to play the game.

Really? How so?

It's strange to me that the Wolves had three 20+ PPG scorers at one point (LaVine has since dipped to 18.9) in Lavine, Wiggins, and Towns yet are still so bad. I've heard similar things about Wiggins also being an empty stats player, which is weird given all the hype he was given in high school and college.
