$8mil with team option... reasonable (depends on the 'star FA' acquisition) |

Also, I feel Nick's shooting this season is no fluke. He had a good shooting year his first year with the Lakers and now another good shooting year this year. Last year was bad because "the Worst Coach Ever" messed him up. |

if he opts in I would trade him, since Lou has been gone he has been moping around and his game reflects that he was only happy and playing good when he was getting alot of PT |

Young only needs 18 more made 3 pointers to break the Lakers single season record. He has made 166, and Van Excel has the record at 183. That is a little over 1 per game....and you know he wants that record. Hope Luke finds a way to give his enough PT to get it. |

Has Nick Young played himself into just keeping player option next year or do you think he can get like 7-8m per year? _________________ 24 |

0/3/0 in 24 minutes. That must be the worst stat line posted by a Laker since that 0/0/0 Fish pulled in 34 minutes.
And he's the worst defender in our backcourt. In a team with DLO, Clarkson and, previously, Lou, that's saying something! _________________ .... |

Guess that's what happened when you get two straight DNP's for no reason. |

Nah couldn't be because his rhythm or timing was off. It's because he's soft and didn't MAN UP to his benching |

Add in a lack of rhythm/ a cold shooting night in general, and it's not a surprise he sucked. 23 min was way too much too considering how bad he was. |

I disagree with his benching, but it's quite understandable, when he's a 30 year-old about to opt out in a team that wants to develop the young guys. _________________ .... |

Whenever Young needs to dribble and create his own shot, this is the type of game you get. It's exactly what we don't want and why he was incompatible with Byron's ISO system. |

I think he has reinvented himself, and somebody will pay him decent money in a multi-year contract. Probably not the Lakers though. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

I really doubt someone gives him a decent multiyear contract. He's a known quantity and shooting the ball well for maybe three quarters of a season in a career year for him won't move many needles, imo. He might get some decent one or two year deals with team options, but that's about it, I think. |

That sequence where it was an ISO for him and he chucked the 3. Missed. We got the board and threw it right back at Nick to go at it again, since it was his turn on the night to get a shot up, bricked again... forgot if he got another chance that possession, but if that wasn't straight up BScott Era basketball I don't know what is.

I can really see Young opting in for this final year if things remain the same. It seems like as soon as he was not in a position he was having fun in, his play returned to last years Nick. I am sure other teams will notice this also. Nick plays well when he enjoys his roles and getting his shots.....anything else, and he is not roster worthy. |

Nick is making $5,7 million next year. He will have, at least, some offer around $7-8 million, two years contract. _________________ .... |

you have to tell me who is going to pay Nick that much for me to buy in? Where does he fit that has cap space or is willing to give up their MLE for Nick Young? New Orleans maybe? |

I don't have candidates in mind, I just think in this crazy market it's not a big deal for a sharpshooter like him. Maybe I'm wrong, but many teams could use a volume 3pt shooter from the bench for a reasonable price.
Just to have some perspective, Garrett Temple was paid $24m/3yr last year, being just one year younger than Nick. Wesley freaking Johnson got a bigger paycheck. _________________ .... |

What if we don't pay Nick 8-10 mill next year and fork over a little more money say 12-15 for Tim Hardaway Jr.
Younger , more upside , fits into timeline of our young guys. |

your probably right, but I do expect the market to be tighter this summer, and much tighter in 2018. Nick at his best is worth every penny...Nick as he played under Byron will be a bad contract no matter the amount. |
