I reckon Zu will become the best Croatian player over Bender and Zizic.

So basically in games where he's playing well enough to get minutes he's playing well ? The per 36 stuff is half fools gold to begin with. Filter that extrapolation with another layer and you've got pretty bias results. Doesn't mean there isn't truth in it but not really proving anything.

Agreed, it is easy to cherry pick. So, let's do it one more time, last 5 games ( which even includes the 2 pt stinker against HOU ) :

14/6/1.4, 66 FG%, in 21 min

At 32 min projects to: 21/9/2

Not just games he is playing well in, overall for the entire season, including games he barely played, in total for all games his per 36 this entire season is 17/10 with just over 2 blocks...

So in the games he got real minutes as I showed above, and in the last 5 including the 'stinker", and overall you can see the numbers are there.

I don't find PER a useless stat at all. I believe it is not a reliable stat showing the player impact in the game, but is very good about how efficient a player is doing his thing.

Most advanced stats have some use in the right context.

By the way, post all star game his PER is 19.3

On a night where the only player to give him any kind of trouble left the game.

Luke flat out refuses to play him in the 4th. Which to me shows how strongly Luke feels about going small and makes investing so much money in a traditional C, like we did, even more inept.

Will be interesting to watch Zu's minutes next year.

Pace inflation has made me weary about trotting that stat around. It also does not factor in late game fatigue, which no player is impervious to. I do think it's useful for certain situations.

Slow down folks, we are tanking and Zu was +2 in his 19 minutes when they still had a big fighting him. Luke is not going to risk the tank putting Zu against Love a poor defender. He let Dlo on the floor because Kyrie was taking back everything we got against him.

And yet again he gets 10/6/1, if Luke plays him 36 he goes for 19/11 and 2, and the lakers win...Luke is in a tank war, and as commander kept the game changer out...

Solid player on both ends of the court. Plenty of upside too.

I like Zubac skillset better than Mozgov, but with a good PG Mozgov is not completely useless.

Deng may still be our best PF, the best defender for sure, but he provides some much needed space too, you may be surprised how he is in huge part of our most productive lineups.
