I would love to see Nwaba be our Ronny Turiaf type enforcer.

Might have a shot to take MWP's 15th man slot next year.

I'd happily give this guy a minimum contract to come back next year. The defensive effort and athleticism are there and he's a much better recipient of development minutes than the likes of Huertas/Calderon/MWP.

IMO Nwaba has some real value out there. Teach him to shoot with confidence and we have an asset for cheap.

No reason not to sign him to a Hinkie special, especially with the two additional two-way roster spots created under the new CBA. He might not make it, but it's a low cost gamble on a team that'll struggle to fill out the back of its roster.

I'm pretty happy with how he's played since coming up from the D-League. If he can improve his jump shot he's got a bright future.

Positive - Watching Nwaba play makes me happy

Negative - Can you believe we committed $70m to Luol Dung when guys like this are available for nothing

You can't seriously compare Nwaba to Deng. You can compare him to Brewer, who has an edge because he can shoot (at least a little).
Deng was expected to be a leader, a role model, and not only defend, but facilitate the offense. Nwaba-type (also price-wise) players can not be expected to do that.

This does not take anything away from your idea that we overpaid Deng... a lot and so far have not got what we wanted from him.

Can we just sign him to a 2 year minimum (team option) deal? I think he's earned it. Would be a great guy to have off the bench to bring some intensity.

Develop a shot and he can replace what JC does plus he can defend.
Could then use JC as a trade chip.

Doubt he can ever develope a shot like JC. He's 24!

Would be fantastic if he could learn to hit occasionally wide open shots like T.Allen

Nwaba's 2nd 10-day contract expires today. I've liked his defense and hustle, but I'm not sure if it makes up for his lack of shooting.

Any guesses on how this all plays out? If the Lakers have another D-League prospect they'd like to test out I suppose now would be a good time as any (and let Nwaba rejoin the Laker D-League team), but I'd hope to see Nwaba get a legit chance to join the team in next season's training camp. If there's no one else worth trying out, then I'm sure we can sign him on a cheap non-guaranteed contract to keep another team from signing him while maintaining roster flexibility.
