Nwaba's 2nd 10-day contract expires today. I've liked his defense and hustle, but I'm not sure if it makes up for his lack of shooting.
Any guesses on how this all plays out? If the Lakers have another D-League prospect they'd like to test out I suppose now would be a good time as any (and let Nwaba rejoin the Laker D-League team), but I'd hope to see Nwaba get a legit chance to join the team in next season's training camp. If there's no one else worth trying out, then I'm sure we can sign him on a cheap non-guaranteed contract to keep another team from signing him while maintaining roster flexibility.
he is a rookie? if I am correct, keep him and work with him to get his jumper decent.
give him same deal as A Brown. non guaranteed next year and the year after that.
so 2 more non guaranteed years after this and we get to keep bird rights if he blows up
I would like to sign him with a team option. Like his defensive intensity. Worst case scenario cut him if we get someone better. I don't care for Ennis, MWP at this point comparatively speaking. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

yupe true. Ennis can go as well as MWP if they want to try more players.

any good PG from the dleague?
I know we would lack shooting, but Gary Payton's son would be my next guy. Defender at the guard spot. Not a fit right now but would be nice to look at to see if we can get a PG defender from GP. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Tyler Ennis, it's been a great run, but...
Yea, I'd prefer to cut Ennis and keep Nwaba if possible. While both aren't great players by any stretch of the imagination right now, at least Nwaba's shown flashes whereas Ennis just seems like a mediocre backup PG
I like his athleticism and tenacity on defense. Would be a solid deep bench guy for next season.
I guarantee you that he keeps our rotation guards honest in practices. Need guys to push our young players. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
MWP, we love you, but we need your spot. Sort of just asking him to leave the grown up table and sit with the adolescents' table. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

i wanted jarell eddie
suns picked him up on a 10 day and he scored 13 last night
might be worth keeping an eye on him if the suns don't give him a contract _________________ substance over style

just hire him as an assistant, that's all he is at this point anyway and we can have as many assistants as we want _________________ substance over style
I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I'd like to see Metta in the purple and gold for his final game at Staples Center, as a player and not a coach. _________________ Chick Hearn and Vin Scully. How lucky are we?

Your right...your in the minority, but that's ok. The only reason Nwaba needs to be kept is because of the obvious void we have for hard nosed, defensive-minded, players. MWP's last run should have been with Kobe last year.
We need to be exploring how to bring in fresh, younger talent.
Luke Walton Plans To Talk To Lakers Brass About David Nwaba’s Future With Team
Quote:
The question now is whether the Lakers brass continues to experiment with players from the D-League or keep moving forward with Nwaba. Although Walton will talk to the general manager Rob Pelinka and Magic Johnson about possibly keeping Nwaba on the team, there’s a chance they give another player an opportunity on the NBA level

Luke plans to talk to front office about David Nwaba's future. Luke liked his play, but admitted possibility of wanting to sign new guys
I don't know what other D-Leaguers they have stashed away at the practice facility but Nwaba showed defense, heart, grit, & toughness that this team has been lacking. I know this world isn't fair, but it just wouldn't be right to call this kid up, have him exceed expectations, and then ship him back for apparently no reason whatsoever.
