Same state we were last year....except this is year one with a roster that we will be moving forward with. They need to finally lucky with a superstar in the draft or somebody who will be a gamechanger for the franchise.

Sixers resting their hopes on a 7-footer with foot issues? Good luck with that.

Lakers are in a bad state but Embiid's health is not even close to being a sure thing.

Actually their hopes are on Ben Simmons......Embiid is their best center out of the 3 they drafted.

Will the Lakers push their chips in for a star no matter what happens?
Los Angeles hosts the 2018 NBA All-Star Game. And make no mistake: If Jeanie Buss has learned anything from her father, the late Dr. Jerry Buss, it’s the importance of the Lakers having stars.

So, whether the Lakers keep the No. 2 overall pick or not, expect names such as Paul George, Jimmy Butler and DeMarcus Cousins to be bandied about as trade options to deliver the Lakers the face of the franchise they crave in the wake of Bryant’s retirement.

The FO might be thinking this way but man in the new CBA that's extremely difficult to pull off. Even if they get George or butler, it's no more than a 40 win team. Why don't we just do it right. George or butler by themselves won't do anything other than give LA an all-star rep. Just not worth it imo. Not at this stage if end goal is more rings.

A championship roster usually has about 9 rotation players. This is how our talent sits right now in terms of championship roster:

1st Option: None
2nd Option: None
3rd Option: None
4th Option: Russell
5th Option: Ingram
6th Option: Randle
7th Option: Deng
8th Option: Clarkson
9th Option: Nance/Zubac

Yes, at their current value, we don't have anyone better than a 4th option on a championship team, which may even be me over stating it. For us to take the next step, we either need to bring in those people who can fill those "none" spots, our young guys need to develop into those "none" spots and/or some combination of the two.

Today, we simply do not have a legit NBA roster. That's the state of the Lakers.
