Would you rather have someone who can coach offense but no defense, or defense but no offense? Both have bad player relations skills. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
IMO,Thibs is overrated. In all sports, there is a bias in favor of defensive coaches. Coaching defense just seems "smarter." Neither Thibs nor D'Antoni ever won anything, but D'Antoni came closer.

I think it's about time to start calling him Thibodoh! _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
Thibs probably should go back to being a defensive assistant. He just isn't really meant to be a head coach, no shame in that. It's the same with a lot of guys.

I think from a structural point of view, it's a lot easier to have a defensive assistant handle everything at that end (if houston is defending an endgame timeout, their assistant runs it), than the other way round.
If all else was equal, Thib is a better coach, but all else is never equal _________________ I believe everything the media tells me except for anything for which I have direct personal knowledge, which they always get wrong

Both have reached the conference finals with an MVP point guard. Thibs also has a ring as an assistant. But I do agree with you that D'Antoni is better.
One is known to boost the stats of a player. The other is known to overwork players to the point of injury.

D'Antoni made the conference finals twice during an era when the West was historically strong. Thibs exceeded 50 wins only once during an era when the East was weak, though not as weak as it had once been. That's the difference to me. Both of them are flawed coaches, but D'Antoni has produced better results.

D-Antoni and Kobe's injury _________________ "It was tough," Kobe Bryant said. "But when it got really tough for me, I just checked myself in."
It's hilarious that D'antoni was pilloried here for wanting Gasol to stretch the floor, and Pau passive-aggrssively acted out. But now with the Spurs Pop is a genius for having Gasol shoot 3s.
