That's why I'm expecting him back. They have repeatedly said how great he has been for development and how he has done more for the team than a 12th guy from anywhere else would do. |

It's been inspiring to see Metta's evolution from a radioactive social pariah to a champion and a positive role model in the community. Very few people ever recover from the demons and the adversity he used to have. That alone is one of the greatest stories in NBA history. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

Quote: | "We want to reward Metta every chance we get for how great he’s been this year and the way he’s worked and the way he helps the young guys and being positive," Walton told The Orange County Register. "He’s been one of the better players in this league for a long time. He’s won a championship with this organization, obviously. So that comes into play."
In his 17th season in the NBA, World Peace has not played that much and as a result, he's averaging just 5.4 minutes, 1.6 points and 0.7 rebounds. Even though there is a good chance he won't return to the Lakers in 2017-18, World Peace is not ready to retire. If no NBA offer comes his way, World Peace will look for opportunities overseas. |

I think there's a high possibility they bring MWP back as an assistant or player development coach next season. As far as a roster spot, I see Brewer taking the MWP role the next 2-3 years. Both dudes are good to have IMO. |

World Peace will not have a documentary crew following his every move. The Lakers will not hold a video tribute filled with testimony about his accomplished career that included helping the Lakers win the 2010 NBA championship. World Peace will not try to mimic Bryant’s scoring output that he posted in his last game nearly a year ago.
“Kobe had 60!” Lakers forward Nick Young told World Peace at his locker before Sunday’s game against Minnesota at Staples Center.
“I’m not going for that,” World Peace said. “If I can get five assists, I’ll be happy.” |

Makes sense. Why try doing something you haven't done for years. I'm sure he is just happy mentoring the rookies and up and coming players on the roster. |

Thanks for everything, Ron Ron.
He came a long way from Malice at the Palace and became one of the best hard-nose defenders in the league and finally won a ring. _________________ Lakers. Built different. |

MWP deserves a lot of credit not just for being an outstanding teammate but for continuing to be a positive example of how to handle mental health issues professionally. Never thought I'd say that after his first few seasons or the Malice at the Palace, but he's really come a long way from that and demonstrated great dedication for the game and mental health ever since. Great to see. Hopefully he comes back in some capacity, be it 12th man or coach of some sort. |

Artest ain't making it to the hall.
He certainly had the talent for it. I believe he was starting to peak as a two-way force (20+PPG plus the most intimidating perimeter defense in the league) and the Palace brawl suspension messed with the uptrend in his individual play.
He bounced back in many after that but not enough to warrant a HOF selection. He will always be a legend to Lakersnation, though. |
