I wish someone could convince him to join our coaching staff while that window is still open. We need to keep his toughness and defensive mindset somewhere in the organization.

Thanks for everything, Ron Ron.

He came a long way from Malice at the Palace and became one of the best hard-nose defenders in the league and finally won a ring.
his hof speech will be great

Artest ain't making it to the hall.

He certainly had the talent for it. I believe he was starting to peak as a two-way force (20+PPG plus the most intimidating perimeter defense in the league) and the Palace brawl suspension messed with the uptrend in his individual play.

He bounced back in many after that but not enough to warrant a HOF selection. He will always be a legend to Lakersnation, though.

Better career than tmac

Like throwing a party for the guy at the office because he is leaving without realizing they haven't told him he was fired.

I know......at least it was a nice game to go out on.....that is more than probably 95% on NBA players get to say.

Don't want to nitpick here , but Artest was the best perimeter defender league in the season prior to the Malace in the palace.

Personally, Artest became one of my favorite players when he attacked those douche bag pistons fans in 04. I only wish Artest would have clocked Ben Wallace that day but oh well

Hate to admit it, but my biggest regret of the night was Artest not breaking Wallace's jaw and body slamming the (bleep) that tossed the beer in his face. And I was no Indy fan. Just hated everything about Detroit and their lousy fans.

Artest was a rising star at the time. His defense was stout but he could also score back then.

But yeah he was a headcase. Huge transformation by the time he became a Laker. Auctioned his long-awaited ring to raise money for efforts to provide support for kids dealing with mental disorders. Great locker room guy as a Laker. Didn't get in trouble. Played with effort and became a role model. Huge transformation indeed.

Those are some fine offensive stats. MWP = D + ring + two way plus longevity plus playoff runs equals better than McGrady

Mwp for hall of fame!

lol I love me some MWP, but T-Mac undoubtedly had a better career than MWP. And T-Mac was no slouch defensively when he didn't have to carry the brunt of an NBA offense.

MWP is a treasure, the last relic of our championship years and an all-round good dude.

I'm glad we sent him off with some semblance of dignity too (as much as you could for the 3rd worst team in the league), without waiving him for some D-league scrub and letting him do some Ron Artest things in his last few games.

Kobe left with 60 and a win, here's hoping MWP leaves with 20, 5 steals, a win and an ejection.

I know and agree. I just love Metta.

I do think he was amazing on D and could score consistently back in the day and was a legit MVP also ran if he didn't Palace it. But if he hadn't done that he wouldn't have been the person he is today.

Hope he is a Laker in some capacity for years to come.
