Yep, Brewer is garbage. He's a 3rd string energy wing, nothing more
edit: this dude sees my post and starts playing well.... although yeah he's like a D- halfcourt player but a B+ transition player. Maybe he could be a bench wing, I could see him working well with the old bench (Clarkson/ Williams/ Brewer/ Nance/ Black)... if we had Lou still lol.

He's not very talented but his effort and energy livens up the team.
I didn't think he would contribute at all so I'm pleasantly surprised. |

Not bad. |

there is no way around it....Brewer is better than I expected him to be. I was really down on having to pay him next year, and the word in Houston was it was a terrible contract....I dont think it is a terrible contract....he could probably get $8 Million + if he was a FA this summer from someone to be a rotational energy wing. |

I could have saved myself from typing a post and just agreed with yours...sums up my thoughts....wished we would have just traded for him this summer instead of signing Deng. |

I always liked CB. He's older now but he's giving us about what I expected. His contract is fine too.
He provides needed energy on both ends of the floor and veteran leadership.
I have no problem with him being back on the team next season. |

Yeah, I agree. Made an edit literally a few seconds after you posted. I hate to admit it, because when I watch him in the half court, I really really really dislike him as a player. But he's got so much energy, and like you said, it really livens up the team. I can't in good conscience keep calling him trash
My biggest issue with him is that someone who can't shoot at the 3 really kills Luke's ability to run his system. One of the problems I think the Lakers had this year (before the tank) is that the starters were mostly running Luke's offense properly, whereas the bench guys were just running an early offense, improvisational style of ball. Both units were fine, but when they had to mesh, they were disastrous. That's what went wrong in December, when guys got injured and we found that there was no real replacement for Russell with the starters (for example).
I don't see where Brewer fits next year if the bench is going to run the same structured offense that the starters are running right now. And I don't want the starters & bench running two different styles -- you watch the best offensive systems (Spurs, etc.) and even when the quality of personnel drops off from starters to bench, the core offensive philosophies are the same. |

Lou Williams hasn't exactly been all that effective with Houston, besides a few games... Brewer has played solid which is more then enough to praise the trade a little more. |

I like watching him too. I saw him on backstage Lakers and in real life backstage at the family Room of staples center and he is sooo nice. Real good dude. |

Lou Wms, as expected, has been very effective in Houston. The trade served its purpose for both parties. |

I mentioned a while back, but he works with David Thorpe in Florida during the offseason....and Thorpe recently said this summer will be all about getting his 3point shot back and improved for next season. If he could shoot the 3 at a decent %, he could really be a solid sub. |

I think there have been players in the NBA who went on to be a better 3pt shooter later on in there career. |

Brewer is a decent slasher, but that being said, he looks so out of control whenever he attacks. I'd prefer him fill the lane in transition and let Clarkson/Russ/Randle feed him than have him take the ball coast to coast. |

think he was referring to he has slipped a little in recent seasons, not that he plans of becoming a 40% shooter |

The ENERGIZER BUNNY with 8 points and 4 steal, 2 assists tonight.
His motor is off the charts on both ends of the floor. I Look forward to seeing him back next season. |

Considering his limited offense, he's suited to play like Matt Barnes, guy that does the dirty work, but his contract might be needed in a trade. |

I'd like to see him and Tyler back next season. | Ditto. They both have some value; be it trade value, contract or actual skill-set. They both are assets that bring a few things to the table. |

They hustle and work hard and I agree with bringing them back, at least they can earn their minutes and not be an embarassment like Chalderoun and World Peace were...! _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

How Lakers’ Corey Brewer helped young players with encouragement & honest feedback
Quote: | “Young guys, a lot of times it’s more their focus and missing up assignments, which you can’t do,” Brewer said. “If you’re going to be a good team, you can’t be messing up assignments. If you watch the Spurs play, they do everything right all the time. It feels like that because they actually hold each other accountable.”
Brewer’s willingness to hold his younger teammates accountable partly explains why the Lakers acquired him from Houston as part of the Lou Williams’ trade before the Feb. 23 deadline. |
