Who would have thought Ron Artest would end his career as the elder statesman for a team?

Thanks for everything, Ron Ron.

He came a long way from Malice at the Palace and became one of the best hard-nose defenders in the league and finally won a ring.

Don't want to nitpick here , but Artest was the best perimeter defender league in the season prior to the Malace in the palace.

Personally, Artest became one of my favorite players when he attacked those douche bag pistons fans in 04. I only wish Artest would have clocked Ben Wallace that day but oh well

Wow, somebody who feels the same way as me.

Along with Wallace, Ron Ron should have clocked Chauncey Buh-Buh-Buh-Billups and that aggravating Deeeeeeee-Troit Basketball PA announcer..

World Peace Shines Through In Home Finale

Quote:
No current Laker has played nearly as many games at Staples Center as Metta World Peace. And, perhaps for the final time, the 37-year-old put on a show as the arena chanted his name.

A day after being told by Lakers' management that they wouldn't be bringing him back next season as a player, veteran swingman Metta World Peace confirmed on Twitter on Friday that this time with the team is over. He thanked members of the front office and ownership, and, in a follow-up tweet, the 37-year-old World Peace added, "I'm very excited for the future. Still balling and eventually coaching." He has played 17 seasons in the NBA and hopes to reach 20.

He needs to jumpstart his coaching career while there is still some interest from the Lakers because by the time he reaches year #20 he'll be in the Queens, NY YMCA old-timers league.

I remember when he auctioned off his NBA championship ring for charity. I bought a ticket intending to return the ring to him if I won. I don't think we win in 2010 without him.

I never wanted him on the team, and I was disappointed when we signed him. Now that it's all said and done, it worked out okay. He helped us win a ring, and he seems to have gotten his life in order. I'll always have warm memories of him as a Laker.

Peace out World Peace!

Honestly, with the 17 man roster next season, I would not mind having him back next season to continue to mentor the youngins.

Metta World Peace Enrolls At UCLA, Insists NBA Playing Career Isn’t Over

Quote:
Metta World Peace is going back to school.

On June 26th, World Peace will take his first class at UCLA, where he will be studying digital analytics and social media marketing.

“I’m definitely not retiring,” World Peace told Lakers Nation of pursuing his master’s degree. “But, I think that people should always have their education. I think people should never, ever let someone say, only play basketball. You should always have an education, education is very important.”
