Quote:

Chris Paul - G - Clippers
The Clippers take the threat of the Spurs pursuit of Chris Paul "very seriously," according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
It is important to note that the Spurs won't have the requisite cap space to make Paul a comparable offer unless they can clear some salaries off the books. Also, assuming the Clippers are willing to offer him a max contract, it's hard to imagine CP3 leaving $200 million in guaranteed money on the table. Nonetheless, Paul joining the Spurs would make San Antonio a legit threat to the Warriors out West, and give CP3 his best chance at experiencing postseason success.

his best chance at trying to get a ring is SA

This belongs in the "Let's all Laugh at the Clippers" thread.

And then Griffin would leave too. They would be left with DeAndre Jordan and a bunch of scrubs.

I read that B/R article. Not a lot of substance to the the CP3 to SA rumor. Moving to LA and becoming the face of the resurrected franchise really boosted his branding.

If he were to entertain a considerable pay cut to pursue a ring, I don't know why he wouldn't just join one of his banana boat buddies in the East.

I think he would take a massive paycut to join the Spurs. Better off trying to get Melo to the Clippers.

Even with CP3 the Spurs have no chance against a healthy Warrior team.

Then the Lakers and Clips could battle for the Pacific cellar position (ouch)...

Nah DJ will average 30 once he gets his own team and learns to shoot free throws, just like Mark Cuban promised him.

Would Paul even work on the Spurs. Cp3 has been the center of the universe of every team he's been on. Not exactly how the Spurs like to operate.

The same healthy Warriors that were down 26 and looked totally helpless against a healthy Leonard and Spurs teams sans their starting PG? Now if you mean that teams won't have a chance because Draymond is going to kick someone in the groin, or Pachulia is going to slide under shooters again, yes, no chance.

It is almost a given that the Spurs will be the 3rd best team in the league again next season without Paul. Adding the best PG Pop has ever had to coach would seem to give, at worst, give them a fighting chance vs the Warriors and Cavs.

This a joke? You think the NBA is lacking for talent?

2017 and people still don't understand that those two situations are not comparable.

A lot of it depends on what players the Spurs have to dump to create cap space for Paul. They add him but does it make up for who they lose?

They should dump Pau.

I don't mind clippers breaking up. But I was wondering since Pelicans have Boogie and Anthony do you think a return to NO is a possibility

In the end, I'm fairly confident CP3 will do what most all other NBA players do and sign for the MOST money - which means Clippers (sigh)...
