Definitely not top 10 yet. I'd put him next to Wade.

He's still playing but hard not to put him down already as one of the 3-4 best forwards ever.

I'll take Malone and KG over Durant and considering Dirk took two teams to the Finals, winning one, it's not that far fetched to see them as equals.

Last year, ESPN ranked him 22. He might have moved up a couple of notches, but it's hard to gauge someone in the middle of their career, especially after a success.

But top 20 is reasonable.

people say how well lebron played, but i felt he stacked his stats in the first half.

KD was just a monster the entire freaking series. Unreal, definitely the best player in the finals in my opinion.

Lebron is a career stat padder. Great player, but a stat padder.

KD was the best player on the floor the entire series.

I tend to agree. It's a testament to Lebron's greatness that he can look uninvolved and disinterested during a game yet end up with a gaudy stat line. Still, when you watch him, you can't help but want more from him especially during those moments when he should be taking over games.

Perceptions are interesting. His actual stats were:

21/5/5 in the first half.

20/8/3 In the second half.

I understand. Actual facts can be very inconvenient and hard to deal with

none of the champs now can be compared to the previous ones because of the way the teams were formed. THey did not have to fight for it and deal with stuff like from eras before. So while it's possible to make the comaprison to malone or stockton, its not really fair. Malone and Stockton stuck through thick and thin together instead of jumping ship (ignoring malone's laker experiment). They didn't win, but the carried a far bigger load than these new guys. i mean, isn't this stating the obvious?? are we really going to just blindly place durant at the top because of this, or lebron?

also, regarding these new superteams...they are so much better than their competition and have so many capable individuals, that regardless of durant, curry, lebron, etc. what they are doing is this:
they can save their energy for most of the game, even important ones, and just bust out in the important minutes, like the last minute of the finals where durant scored 7. he was well rested, didn't need to do much except easy buckets early in the game. this is very different than the pistons hounding mj, and mj fighting for those points etc. they aren't even breathing heavy for these all important finals games. it's so easy.

how were his shooting percentages per quarter?

I too understand that you need to defend him in every post.

How many of those 20 pts came after the game was over and he started padding his stats with layups?

Lebron isn’t an emotional topic for me. I feel no need to defend him or attack him.

I am emotional about facts. It bothers me we are in an age when people make up facts, and when their errors are pointed out, they become upset and defensive.

But I get that many more people are the opposite of me -- they are emotional about players and indifferent to or casual about facts.

if the question is "do people care who is the best in competitive sports?" then the answer is yes. sports is fundamentally about answering that question, lol. do people care who was the greatest military commander is history? yes.

2 of his 20 points came after the game was over.

However, if you think the game was over at 2:30 with the score 115-126, you would say 4. However, the Cavs have shown they can outscore any team (even the Warriors) by 11 points in 2:30, so I stick with 2.
