I'm not gonna ruin it for anyone but this quote is just too gold to not share.

Pat Riley wrote Magic a letter that said "I want you to be in the best shape of your life and come back better next season".

Dude went and got better, came back in the best shape of his life. And here we are giving Magic (bleep) for saying that in this weak ass era

I like that line by coop. "Being on the break was probably better than sex".

Last night was the first time I've watched a replay of the '84 Finals. It was just too painful to re-live those memories.

I was in college back then, and after growing up watching the Lakers come up short in the mid-late '70's, from the time Magic got to the Lakers I couldn't wait to beat the Celtics in the Finals. That series was truly a nightmare. Should have been a sweep.

It was cool seeing the guys talk about it last night though.

I hated McHale, Danny Boy and Conrbread as players, but all of their interviews last night were great and those guys seem all right. It was cool that they came out and said the Lakers were the more talented team because it's true. Celtics got in their heads though.

Otoh, I hated ML Carr as a player because he was a bench-warming, no talent, towel-waving d-bag and I still hate him just as much as I did 33 years ago after watching him run his mouth some more last night.

Game 4 in '87 is the greatest NBA game I've ever seen.I remember exactly where I was and who I was watching it with. Those last few minutes were insane. It was the NBA equivalent of Ali-Frazier.

Still get a nervous feeling watching Bird take that 3 that would have won the game.

Big props to Bird for telling it like it is.

"We're in a lot of trouble." Don't hear anything like that anymore.

"When I'm up 3-1 it's over" yup. Props for the honesty and raw emotion.

Bird looks an inch or two taller than Magic in a lot of these videos where they're standing next to each other. Either Bird is 6'11" or Magic is 6'7".

I liked the documentary but honestly I felt was heavily slanted toward the Puketics point of view and on them even though we won 5 to their 3 in the decade and beat them 2 of 3 straight up

That was an awesome Doc. Thankfully it has a happy ending. (for us lol)

I loved that scene with Tommy Hawkins putting on his old jersey when the Lakers beat the Celtics in 85.

True they spent a whole lot of time on that 86 Celtics championship vs the Rockets. The 88 Lakers championship was an afterthought which they mentioned for 2 seconds.

Also spent alot of time on Celtics of 50's and 60's just a footnote of our 5 from 2000-2010

Honestly, it makes sense. The 80s rivalry pretty much started in '79 with the rookie season of Bird and Magic and ended in '87 after the Finals. Since '86 happened before it, they covered that title like they covered the '80 championship with the Lakers.

I had to laugh when I heard that Sacramento traded Robert Parrish and the #3 pick (Kevin McHale) for Joe Barry Carroll. Some things never change.
