MLB draft going on right now. Freakin' Giants draft Heliot Ramos, a guy with 5-tool potential. I thought he'd be around when the Dodgers draft. Pretty much a big boom or bust player. Dodgers' player development has been doing very well and the Giants have a very poor prospect pipeline so it's understandable that the Giants take a chance.
Jeren Kendall was recently scouted by the Dodgers and was just drafted by the Dodgers. He was projected as a top 10-15 pick and probably resembles a faster Joc Pederson, which means his hitting ability is a huge concern as he strikes out a lot, but his speed will translate well to the big leagues defensively. Very athletic. He's been compared to Jacoby Ellsbury as well. Hopefully the Dodgers can develop his plate discipline and his raw hitting skills. |

The kid rakes 2 more homers. Incredible. One was the first home run against Miller this year. |

Through 45 career games, Cody Bellinger has 16 HR, 36 RBI. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

We have the 3rd best record in baseball and we're tied for 2nd in our own division.
NL West is just taking teams to the woodshed. Dbags and Rockies can't possibly keep this up right? _________________ KOBE |

I don't know about Arizona, but I think Colorado can be considered legit. I felt they showed signs as being a future threat last season, and it looks like they're early. It really helps to have a guy like Arenado in the lineup every day. And they're doing this without their ace, so they might be a legit threat to the Dodgers' NL West crown, but I still think LA will take it.
In other news, looking over the MLB draft, the Dodgers have had a big focus on athletic players. Kendall was considered anywhere from top 5-15, and fell all the way to 23. A little surprised that they picked him up with his high strikeout numbers, but it seems to be a sign of their confidence in the player development department. |

It's possible. What will help us is that we've got seasoned players and the challengers right now are all young (the one team that has us beat in the experience/clutch categories is floundering thankfully). That won't last too long.
Dbags have a very talented and young OF to put with Goldschmidt. I have my doubts on Jake Lamb but they have a legit ace in Greinke and a very sharp on the rise manager in Torey Lovullo (yay fellow Bruin!). What will hopefully kill them is eventually the bubble that Robbie Ray, Taijuan Walker, and Zack Godley is in is bound to burst. Plus their pen is awful (Closer Fernando Rodney LMFAO).
The Crockies I think are probably the bigger threat. They have a potent offense and Carlos Gonzalez hasn't even woken up. Mark Reynolds is bound for a fall though and their pitching, while not anywhere near elite even adjusting for Coors, is likely good enough to make a postseason. Their quick burst is lasting longer than it was last year. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

I wonder what the Cardinals would want for Martinez. He's the ideal second ace I want to throw after Kershaw. _________________ Character

A ton. He's 25 and he's under club control through 2023, and he "only" makes $11.5MM from 2018-2021 and then there are two club option years in 2022 and 2023 for $17MM and $18MM. The Cardinals don't need to tear it down, so I don't see why they'd move him. |

Nice. Alex Wood deserves his own sign the way he is pitching. Definitely the #2 starter. Give most of the bullpen the day off. Now if the Dodgers could figure out the backend of the rotation... |

Alex Wood has allowed 9 runs and 8 walks in his last 8 starts. 58 strikeouts in 48 innings. 6-0 _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Wood has a nice rythmn going. Nice to see Pederson wake his bat up if he doesn't watch out he's going to be the odd man out. Robert's is doing a good job juggling the lineup and keeping everyone ready to contribute. |

The news about Agon is not good. He has a herniated disc and will be getting an epidural. He might need back surgery. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

At least we have Bellinger ready to play gold glove defense at first. Still, big loss. |

I still think he has the inside track to starting most of the games in CF, certainly against righties. His defense there gives him a leg up. To me, he would have to be really struggling at the plate to not start. Taylor just isn't a natural outfielder and, although, he can play it in a pinch, I think you're stretched if he's your regular starter there. With Joc in CF and Puig in RF, you have two plus defenders out there. In a worst-case scenario, if A-Gone is out for the year, you could play Bellinger at 1B and have a revolving door between 2B and LF. (Could alternate Taylor between 2B and LF, and have Utley and Forsythe play 2B when Taylor is in LF.) Or, you could always trade for a corner outfielder before the deadline. Or, you could return Bellinger to LF and trade for a 1B before the deadline.
The positional versatility that Bellinger and Taylor have, at least it gives the Dodgers options if they do need to swing a trade. |

A-Gone has been a big boost beyond the box score stats. Clearly one of the team leaders and it shows game by game whenever you see what happens in the dugout. Hopefully he can return healthy for the postseason. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

I'm begining to think Bellinger is legit. 19 HR's in 50 games. McGwire-esque... _________________ KOBE |
