Only good reason I've read is that he's sacrificing himself to maintain the integrity of the Russia investigation. His statement yesterday, though, is hard to see as anything other than acting as a mouthpiece for the White House. This thing is a cluster though, we'll probably have to wait years to untangle this disaster.

If he recuses himself, the supervision of Mueller will fall into the hands of Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand, who is very conservative. That's exactly what the GOP would love to see happen. In a way, I think the GOP leadership will encourage more attacks by Trump and others on Rosenstein, in an effort to force Rosenstein into recusing himself.

I mean...they don't even have enough decency or shame to be subtle about it. This is like Nino Brown in New Jack City. How does a drug dealer take over an entire housing project and use it as a distribution center for his product?? Donald Trump is the ODT version of Nino Brown.

I can't continue to watch Trump's speech. My gun is to close, I might shoot my TV. Louis played the Star Spangle Banner he squeaked twice.

He talked about human rights abuses. Why didn't he say, they're not the only ones, we do it here?

This is an extremely strong statement from Senator Feinstein, who is careful and measured. She does not lightly speak in this way

But does Trump's lawyer's lawyer have a lawyer?
If this chain gets long enough LG lawyers might get involved.
This is an interesting way to create jobs. Trump's definitely thinking outside the box.

Even ODT's lawyers don't trust him. They need their own representation because ODT will not hesitate throw them under the bus.

Some think Rosenstein will eventually have to recuse himself because he will likely end up being a witness in Comey firing and obstruction of justice case stemming from that chain of events, of which he was a part.

And then comes another complicated chain of events, explained by Seth Abramson (attorney, professor, commentator):

(THREAD) Here's EVERYTHING you need to know about Rachel Brand—the Acting AG on the Russia case when Rod Rosenstein finally recuses himself.

This isn't the one representing him during the investigation. It's the one that has been rumored to be directly tied to money laundering for the Russians in the so called fake dossier. With all of the digging being done by Mueller and the superfriends, he won't need to be thrown under the bus.

Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) released the following statement on recent statements by the president:

“I’m growing increasingly concerned that the president will attempt to fire not only Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating possible obstruction of justice, but also Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein who appointed Mueller.

“The message the president is sending through his tweets is that he believes the rule of law doesn’t apply to him and that anyone who thinks otherwise will be fired. That’s undemocratic on its face and a blatant violation of the president’s oath of office.

“First of all, the president has no authority to fire Robert Mueller. That authority clearly lies with the attorney general—or in this case, because the attorney general has recused himself, with the deputy attorney general. Rosenstein testified under oath this week that he would not fire Mueller without good cause and that none exists.

“And second, if the president thinks he can fire Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein and replace him with someone who will shut down the investigation, he’s in for a rude awakening. Even his staunchest supporters will balk at such a blatant effort to subvert the law.

“It’s becoming clear to me that the president has embarked on an effort to undermine anyone with the ability to bring any misdeeds to light, be that Congress, the media or the Justice Department. The Senate should not let that happen. We’re a nation of laws that apply equally to everyone, a lesson the president would be wise to learn.”

So it's Friday afternoon, what are the odds of another bombshell being dropped in the media soon? Seems to happen every week just after close of business on East Coast.

Rosenstein fired or resigns?
Another main character fingered as under investigation?
Muller fired?
Some sort of leak of major news (tapes made by Trump, tapes of Trump doing bad things)?
911 call to the White House?

Wow, Feinstein is not Maxine Waters, she is usually very careful and sober in her communications (no offense to Maxine, she's a character).

Feinstein has heard much more in closed sessions than we even know about and she is coming out with this pointed statement.

If twitter insider sources are accurate, it might be news that Bannon is also being investigated for obstruction of justice. tick tick tick

The tape drop is rumored to be within 36-48 hours.

I have no idea if these insiders will be right, but several have been right in the past. We'll see.

What tape drop, Trump has been taping conversations? Just a rumor I am sure but what is the rumor?

European intelligence allies reportedly have damning tapes of Trump (don't know if audio or video) and are contemplating making them public soon. People think the Rosenstein (i.e., Trump) "warning" about not relying on sources outside the U.S. was a preemptive strike because they know the tapes are coming. We'll see.
