Some trending threads:

FIRE DA

Unless DA trades #3 pick for Butler or George - He just made a HUGE mistake

Danny Ainge Just Got Outplayed By Bryan 'Freakin' Colangelo...

Followed by denial/self-persuasion:

Boston had serious concerns about Fultz being a winner. Too many red flags

Then followed by renewed delusion/optimism:

Blockbuster deal coming...just wait.

PG13 or Butler? (poll)

If we are trading away the #1, I think we are getting Butler or Paul George

George and Davis...time to cash in all the chips.

Danny is a GENIUS. hear me out (he's gambling more on 2018... The better draft)

Never change ya verdant vomit chowdaheads...

As much as I hate him, Ainge is a very good GM. He's right more than he's wrong and has won more trades than he's lost.

Ainge is stockpiling 1st round draft picks to use for a trade or to build the Celtics. Either way its not like Fultz is a sure thing either.

6ers need Fultz more than Boston. They already have Thomas. now they get our unconditional pick from next year.

If that's a meltdown, we should rename this board ChernobylGround. Sounds like a typical day here.

If they keep the pick, that means how we do next year will determine the Celtics future....

We won't be able to judge this one for years, but trading the #1 pick is pretty crazy IMO. Ainge is betting against Fultz. I don't think you trade down for lesser picks, but we'll see.

Guys this thread is not to be used to discuss Celtics related stories. It's to be used to take the piss on posts by CB users. A general schadenfreude thread so to speak.

Just not good. Won't get them past Cleveland or Golden St.

Im starting to think that every single year that goes by , player names are the only thing that gets casual NBA fans over hyping a team.

Hayward , IT, Butler all need the ball. None of them are the greatest off the ball. All of them need the ball to create. While that is a nice thing to have at 3 positions, only one ball on the court, and this could easily mess up chemistry. Not to mention 3 scoring egos on the court.

The main reason Garnett , Allen, and Pierce were great were because

Each could shoot, each could create, Ray could play off ball at an elite level. Garnett was unselfish playing whatever role he needed to for each game. Pierce was the only guy that had the scoring ego mentality , but he even did not care at that point and sacrificed as well.

Man, they think that 2007 team was one of their best, essentially a one and done team.

NFL teams do this all the time. If you think the #1 guy is overvalued, you cash in the pick if you can get better value. Your scouting evaluation may turn out to be wrong, but if you don't trust your evaluators, you are sailing on a moonless night without a compass.

Sailors use the Stars, not the Moon to navigate...

Are you from the Metaphor Police? Okay, okay, you're right, but I was going for darkness, not celestial navigation. Make it an overcast night if you want.

Since is stockpiling all these picks, but he's making the cardinal sin of pick stockpiling: he's letting them turn in to players. And on top of that, he's not drafting very well.

He needs to trade for a superstar soon or he's going to be looking really stupid.

They scared. Very scared.

Quote:
If the Lakers draft Ball at #2 and he lives up to the Jason Kidd hype, and LBJ is interested in going to the Lakers in 2018, it seems likely that George follows suit.

WAY TOO RISKY.

Quote:
People need to stop pushing this narrative. They barely will have enough room for George by stretching Mozgov and Deng. How in the world will they get Lebron, too? And why would he even go there? Lebron, George, and a bunch of young, underachieving players isn't doing anything in the West.

Trying desperately to convince themselves PG is going there:

Quote:
I do think there is something to the timing of the Cs trade becoming "official" and George informing the Pacers he won't resign there. Its like Ainge contacted George's agent, told them he wants him, George then goes to Pacers and informs them of the news to help drive his price down...

George was reported to have said he was jealous of the chemistry the Celtics had this past season so there seemingly is some interest there.

Quote:
This is a likely scenario. If Ainge can pull this off without giving up both picks next year, he's a genius. The hints have been out there and I believe all the Lakers talk was just a way for him to let the Pacers know he was leaving and other contenders to get assets right. I doubt PG ever said he wanted to go to the Lakers.

There is something about the timing. The Cavs have nothing to offer.

Quote:
LOL at people saying the Lakers won't have room out of one side of their mouth, then claim we're going to carry 4 max contracts out of the other.

Hate to break it to ya chum, but Bird ain't the GM no more:

Quote:
Actually this is one idea where I can get on board. If PG doesn't resign, we give up less. Would Larry Bird be willing to deal with Danny? PG13 obviously doesn't want to go back to Indiana so maybe they will take a reasonable offer that is a win for both teams now.

This reminds me of the KG trade. More likely though we will have to give up the #3 this year in the trade package for the Pacers to actually bite.

I love how they point at the timing like it's a big deal. We're 4 days away from the draft, when do you expect trades with draft picks involved to be negotiated?

POST PG13 TO OKC TRADE:

Topic: What will it take to get George?

Quote:
To answer the OP, not much, apparently.

Quote:
For us? A time machine. Mike

Quote:
I obviously didn't think we had a 95% chance at George. That would be ridiculous.

You made up the 5% number as of it held some weight. Anyone can just pull a number out of their ass and throw it on the table like a fact. I wrote the 95% line to show how stupid your 5% number was.

Even if I were some sort of green teaming lunatic who really believed we had a 95+% chance of getting George, I still wouldn't have technically been proven wrong because that absurd estimate would still allow for the incredibly unlikely scenario of Paul George being traded to the Thunder for Victor Oladipo on a 4/82 contract and Sabonis.

Just like you would not necessarily be proven right.

Topic: At what point does Ainge become the big Tease?

Quote:
just focus on building through the draft, I am good with that. Stop teasing us.

Quote:
building what? We dont have any future stars at this point.

Who knows what these guys will become...if they get hurt, or if they just end up going somewhere else to play.

With the way the league is, guys can just end up leaving in a flip of a switch.

Danny Ainge is a tease. He better get something here.

Quote:
I don't believe for one second Ainge ends up drafting 6th, 3rd, perhaps at worst 4th, and then again maybe at worst 5th, and doesn't get a single star. I don't believe it. And I don't even think he's a great drafter.

Topic: Hayward is enough, we don't need George.

Quote:
I feel Hayward is enough, we don't need Paul George.

We get Hayward and we get to keep Bradley, Crowder, KO. We can go for a lower tier scorer like Gallinari, Milsap, etc.

Quote:
There is a real concern that Boston gets no Hayward, Griffin or George. If this is the case, I don't see Boston doing anything much but resigning KO.

If this is the case, then continue to build through the draft, resign AB and IT and keep building for down the road. Boston would still be the second best in the east for a few more years but they would win with their own

Quote:
Bump, because we need this thread for rationalization therapy right now. Who needs those grapes, they were sour anyway!

Topic: Don't jump off the bridge!!!!!!

Topic: This sounds weird to say, but Lebron is going to be a celtic in 2018
