Just wondering this aspect, as that would essentially be likely one of the biggest stories in the history of basketball if the Cavs were able to pull off landing Russell Westbrook and that being a rivalry with the Warriors for obvious reasons.

Now would it likely happen in a trade? Probably not, as the Thunder are likely wanting to hold onto Westbrook as tight as possible, but Westbrook is a free agent after this season, and they could stand to lose him for nothing if they aren't able to put together a team that can do better in the playoffs or go further, and the fact of the matter is, given their cap situation they may not be able to.

So the question becomes, if Cleveland came knocking on their door offering a combnation of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love and some future draft picks, should they take it? Especiall if it looks like they may lose Westbrook in the off-season.

Would be an amazing story but I think Westbrook and LeBron is a horrible fit. They'll likely make it work someway somehow but I doubt it works better than what they already have with Kyrie The Sorcerer.

I don’t think that moves the needle for the Cavs.

The Cavs big problem is their 2-3 guys aren’t great defenders. It’s hard to challenge Warriors unless you have 2-way players at the top.

Westbrook is a great player, but he's not a great defender, he doesn't shoot 3s well, and he wouldn't be eager to go back to being the second banana.

He would be an upgrade to KI. Rebounds and passes better. Size alone make him a more effective defender. He would have to adjust and play w/o the ball more.

I want that to happen for the sole reason that LeBron and Westbrook vs. KD and the Warriors would be AMAZING

Westbrook might make them a little better, but I don't think that's the move that helps them where they really need the help.

Westbrook only made the Finals once with Durant. He also never won with Durant so I don't see why he is the missing piece for the Cavs.

Durant only made the Finals with Westbrook AND Harden and then Curry AND Green AND Thompson.

He's not the missing piece with Lebron, but it isn't for some perceived inability to win.

KD and Steph vs LeBron and Westbrook in the NBA Finals would probably break more ratings records, as it would set them for their games during the season as well.

Kyrie is probably their second most important player to keep and he is still a great fit with LeBron.

Love, not so much.

KL is no bargain, he's no center and he hasn't defended well inside for his own position (PF). He's terrible rotating in help situations. He defends quite poorly in space. Kevin's the odd man out there roster fit-wise, if the goal is to defeat the GSW through the next two or three years.

Westbrook would be an attractive addition, but with Kyrie already entrenched as off guard, there are probably there are smarter options (i.e., go bigger for the second guard than RW.)

So? Durant was the best player on all those teams, and a top 2 player in the league. And Westbrook still couldn't win with him. You seem to be suggesting Durant isn't that great.
