They must have made the trade before that workout. LOL! Damn, the kid looked like he was throwing it. He wants to play with his buddy, IT.

@DerekBodnerNBA

Celtics will get Lakers pick if it falls between 2 and 5 in the 2018 draft, per league source. If not, the Celtics will get the Kings in '19

They might get another #1 if that kings pick is unprotected.

I know Danny Ainge is 0 for 2000 when it comes to drafting players, but passing up on Fultz might just mean the kid isn't who we thought he was. Am I right? Also, the Lakers saying that he "murdered the workout" sounds like an obvious smokescreen to me. No one is leaking anything super positive on the Jackson or Ball workouts, which leads me to believe we are trying to slip by unnoticed with one of those two guys.

We tried to trade Randle and swap picks to move up a spot. Not sure how true that rumors was, but if it were true, we still don't know who the Lakers were moving up to select. Maybe it was'tt Fultz at all.

If we leaked Fultz "murdered the workout" and it was a true statement, someone in the front office would have some answering to do. You can't give away your hand, especially when the stakes are this high.

At least 76ers wasted a #3 pick on Okafor and Embiid's health is a huge question mark. They'd have been even more scary with Porzingis instead of Oak.

Even more reason to go all out and try to get to the playoffs.

F* the Celtics (and Sixers).

That's why it's our job to make sure they don't get anything better than next year's 15.

Although that means Philly could get another #1

He needs to show it. The latest Fultz vids emphasizing his playmaking show Russell being legit as a pull up PnR shooter behind screens.

Or it was smokescreen all along to get someone to overpay for him. I've been saying since the draft lottery drawing that no way Celtics pick Fultz since they already have an MVP candidate at that position. But the media and fans bought in to the hype. Meanwhile Ainge swindles another team.

My thoughts exactly.... now we've got the absolute opposite in motivation from a draft perspective. BUCK FOSTON at all costs. Make the playoffs. Don't even open the door for a lucky ping pong bounce.

As for Philly getting scary good - all that means is they can hand Boston some losses and keep the C's title aspirations in check until the Lakers get good enough to displace the GSW and shut either team down in the finals.

Latest On Celtics-Sixers Deal

Quote:
Saturday’s blockbuster deal that will allow the Sixers to draft Markelle Fultz validates “the process” that former GM Sam Hinkie brought to Philadelphia, writes Tim Cato of SB Nation. The Sixers were able to get the No. 1 pick from Boston in exchange for their own selection at No. 3 and the Lakers’ first-rounder next year, which is protected if it falls between No. 2 and No. 5, or the Kings’ first-rounder the following year if that pick isn’t conveyed.

Totally forgot Okafor was even in Philly. He's been completely shot out by the Philly press. Embodies and Simmons seem to be all over the place there.

Not gonna happen. Take the nance and dlo injuries away (or limit them) from this past season and we may not even have been in the top 10.

Not entirely sure how all these protections work, but Boston is going to get something, right?

Like, its not a matter of if, but when? Kind of like why Philly has our pick in 2018 instead of earlier.

A lot of folks seem to think the Kings will just be trash forever. They really have nowhere to go but up and have two whole years to improve. By the time that pick is conveyed guys like Willie, Skal, and Buddy will be hitting their stride, not to mention the two top 10 picks they have from this year's class. They've been pretty consistent in acquiring mid tier guys like Rondo, Gay, Lawson, Evans etc. who are the kinda guys that won't take you to the playoffs but keep you from completely bottoming out. They have no incentive to tank this year and have the capital to be aggressive in free agency. They could even potentially but together a package of their own for Jimmy Butler that rivals what the Celtics just acquired or at the least could force Boston to up the ante.

Trying to be as unbiased as I can but if I'm Chicago the #3 and a mystery pick isn't enough to entice me to trade Butler without shopping around first. I get the feeling that Ainge may have outdumbed himself once again.

I agree, it would be a sick and unjust world for Boston ever benefiting off Lakers poor play.

Don't even cut it close, time to win.

The strong reactions are funny. People don't trade away can't miss prospects. I'm iffy on both Markelle and Ball. But nothing has changed since we landed this pick. We were never getting Markelle, right? The expectations in this forum has been interesting, attitudes of some fans have changed, the progression from beggars to choosers.
