How good will our Los Angeles Lakers be when Paul George inevitably signs with the team next offseason?

Let's assume they draft Lonzo Ball on Thursday night and the Lakers don't part with any members of their promising young core.

Paul George.
Brandon Ingram.
Lonzo Ball.
D'Angelo Russell.
Julius Randle.
Jordan Clarkson.
Ivica Zubac.

Those would be your main core members of the team. Not sure who would start, but realistically I think the Lakers assuming they draft Ball should win 30-35 games next season. With George I think they're a definite playoff team.

As long as we don't trade any of our young core

+10 wins (it is hard to say, because our young core is improving too)

Did you not read the OP? Lakers aren't trading any members of their young core when they have the leverage.

This team is ready to make a huge leap either way. We need to forget the lessons in humility we were served over the last several years. Time to set the bar high. Well over .500.

He won't be the only move. You don't acquire a guy i. his prime to make him wait for our young talent to mature as his2nd/3rd option. LA will acquire another super star in trade (Likely LeBron or Westbrook)

I'd say 35 wins +/-3. The team would still have a 2nd year coach, a bunch of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year players, a very questionable defense with no rim protection, and a few new players to integrate into the roster (PG-13, Ball?, replacement for JC?).

As the roster stands we become Pacers west. Add a couple more stars via trade or free agency and we become contenders.

I'd cap them anywhere between 35-40 wins barring we're not giving up any significant assets. 3rd year Russell will most likely be the second best player on the team and year 2 Ingram will help us if he makes a step toward 15 ppg

The answer to this question will have more to do with the development of the young players than with Paul George (assuming that he actually comes to the Lakers in the summer of '18).

A hell of a lot better then they are without Paul George, that's for sure.

If we sign Paul George in 2018 we are at least a 2nd round team if not a conference finals team. But we won't be ready to beat the Warriors yet.

Which roster would you choose tomorrow as starting foundation to build a team?

Ball
Dlo / Clarkson
Ingram
Randle / Nance
Zubac

or

Dlo
Ingram / Clarkson
PG13
Randle / Nance
Zubac

I think it would be similar to Kobe's last season but the ball movement would be a little better. Still, I'm not sure if that would make a significant improvement though.

If you draft Ball, it might be smartest to go positionless without a true PF. 4 shooters and ZU.

Ball, Dlo, BI & PG13, Zu

that's assuming Zu improves enough to be a starter sometime next year. (Moz "probably" begins the season as the starter due to Zu's Defense deficiencies "last year")

We don't know how much improvement we're going to get this summer from any of: BI, Dlo, ZU, Nance, or Randle
if (Big IF) either Randle or Nance comes in with a really good 3pt shot, you might change my above.
we also don't know how good/bad Ball might be against NBA athletes
but, based on current skills & assumptions - you probably roll with the shooters and figure it out.
