Celtics will get Lakers pick if it falls between 2 and 5 in the 2018 draft, per league source. If not, the Celtics will get the Kings in '19

They might get another #1 if that kings pick is unprotected.

A lot of folks seem to think the Kings will just be trash forever. They really have nowhere to go but up and have two whole years to improve. By the time that pick is conveyed guys like Willie, Skal, and Buddy will be hitting their stride, not to mention the two top 10 picks they have from this year's class. They've been pretty consistent in acquiring mid tier guys like Rondo, Gay, Lawson, Evans etc. who are the kinda guys that won't take you to the playoffs but keep you from completely bottoming out. They have no incentive to tank this year and have the capital to be aggressive in free agency. They could even potentially but together a package of their own for Jimmy Butler that rivals what the Celtics just acquired or at the least could force Boston to up the ante.

Trying to be as unbiased as I can but if I'm Chicago the #3 and a mystery pick isn't enough to entice me to trade Butler without shopping around first. I get the feeling that Ainge may have outdumbed himself once again.

Worst case scenario would be the Kings getting the 1st pick and the Lakers pick falling anywhere from 2-5th.

That would essentially ensure the Celtics get Michael Porter and Deandre Ayton. Which would essentially mean their 4th and 5th spot is set the next 10 years, if they add Hayward and Butler this off-season it would make their team

Isaiah Thomas
Jimmy Butler
Gordon Hayward
Michael Porter
Deandre Ayton

.....

So let's hope that the Lakers play much better next season!! We can't let that happen!

We should draft Josh Jackson just to screw the Celtics over.

If they got our 2018, the 2019 kings pick would revert to the 76ers.

For some reason, I think the Sixers may surprise everyone and draft Ball. Although, that certainly wouldn't be screwing us over considering how good Fultz is.

People are saying on the Lonzo thread that the Sixers told Fultz they were picking him. I didn't see that anywhere. Does anyone have a link verifying this?

Simmons is already the point man, Fultz is off guard that they need.

Ben Simmons? He's a forward not a PG.

I know Danny Ainge is 0 for 2000 when it comes to drafting players, but passing up on Fultz might just mean the kid isn't who we thought he was. Am I right? Also, the Lakers saying that he "murdered the workout" sounds like an obvious smokescreen to me. No one is leaking anything super positive on the Jackson or Ball workouts, which leads me to believe we are trying to slip by unnoticed with one of those two guys.

We tried to trade Randle and swap picks to move up a spot. Not sure how true that rumors was, but if it were true, we still don't know who the Lakers were moving up to select. Maybe it was'tt Fultz at all.

If we leaked Fultz "murdered the workout" and it was a true statement, someone in the front office would have some answering to do. You can't give away your hand, especially when the stakes are this high.

So what does Philly trading two potential top 10 picks for Fultz mean? That he IS as good as we think he is?

Fultz is DLO part II. I think that Magic's leaks were a smokescreen.

There's not a chance in hell a team trades up to draft a player #1 that a) they haven't worked out and b) haven't met with. The fact that Bovada moved the line of Fultz going #1 from -2000 over the weekend to -5000 today only cements that fact. Occam's razor on this one.

You bring up an interesting point. Anybody know if this has happened before?

His Sports Science on ESPN was pretty impressive, at least to me.

But you guys probably watch more of the draft footage than I do. But it is clear, Fultz has great skills, feel, athletic ability, handles, etc.

Ainge met with and dealt Fultz within his own division.

Obviously he wasn't channeling a young Larry Bird. Or even DJ.

I'm pretty sure Ainge did his homework and due diligence to make a big decision like passing on Fultz. Not high on Fultz but I won't lose a million dollar job if I was wrong.
