Story going online now: League sources tell me that the Clippers have expressed interest in trying to hire Jerry West away from the Warriors |
*giggles* |
Don't put it past a man driven out by Jeanie and her then boyfriend, and then snubbed by her and her current avatar. |
Plus the Clippers have an owner who wants to win and doesn't mind spending to do so. If West is offered a part of the team, it would be more valuable than part of the Warriors. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I hope its true. It makes sense, this would be good for Jerry and his family. |

Jerry seems to be looking for a payout. Much as I love the guy, let Ballmer overpay him and be thankful for everything he did for the Lakers. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Steve, please clarify.
Does he mean lakers initiated the talks by "kicking the tires." Or did others initiate and the Lakers just listened? Journalism at its best. |

It sounds like he said that the Lakers were listening. And that is a good thing, as Pelinka said, you can have 100 bad ideas but it is that one good one that can make a difference. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Luke Walton urges front office to not trade “too much of our young core” for superstar
Quote: | My only caution would be let’s not give up too much of our young core for one superstar because, like we just talked about before, let’s not forget that those Golden State Warriors are just a little bit north of us and it’s going to take a lot more than one superstar to dethrone them from the West. There’s that fine line in trying to get there quicker rather than developing our own guys. I think Rob and Magic are very aware of that. They’re constantly looking at the best way to get us to be a true contender, not just on paper.” |

I've had many concerns about this FO, but to their credit they've mostly defused most of them. I should add that another one of my concerns was assuaged. I was worried Magic would choose Ball based on superficial reasons without giving the field a real shot. But by every sound of it, Magic's doing his due diligence and maybe even leaning off of Ball.
I still don't really trust Magic's intuition/ decision-making enough to feel confident about his choice (vs. someone like Mitch). But at least if Magic makes a decision, it'll be one borne out of careful consideration, so that's good. |

It sounds more like other GMs are circling and testing the new Lakers front office hoping to take advantage of them. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Good stuff, Magic.
I'm looking forward to phase 2 of this trade.
I'm sure fans will be upset. But once we start winning, they'll turn around. So keep ya head up! |

Sam Amick @sam_amick
Lakers get off albatross Mozgov deal, clear PG runway for Lonzo Ball & money for 2018 free agency. Nifty work by Magic & Rob Pelinka. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

I hate tweets like this. Is he saying lonzo for PG13 or that they will be teammates.

Not really sure what the vision of the front office really is. If they think it's to draw in superstar players with cap space, well... that hasn't worked the last few years. Not even sure what kind of roster they're trying to build. None of the players can play the Warriors' style. Ingram is the only one with true potential and he's still years away. |

Well apparently Walton is having a lot of input as to what kind of crew he wants to play his style of basketball. I am pretty confident we will draw at least 2 stars by next year free agency. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

You guys do realize Magic said a couple weeks ago he is building the team around Luke. Ding reported yesterday that Luke wanted Russell gone. He didn't fit his vision. How about giving Luke a chance to build the roster he wants. How about giving Rob and Magic time to implement there vision with this rebuild. How about giving our new group the benefit of the doubt. That's only fair don't you agree? _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |
