In this league, the worst thing you can do is be a middle of the road team. Sometimes you make the 8th seed and get destroyed in the first round of the playoffs, and sometimes you don't. We did a great job of tanking the last 3-4 years, and avoided that.

Even if we get George, we risk going there anyway by giving up too much of our core. If Lebron sees that it's George and not much else, I doubt he comes here. But even if we get someone like Lebron and/or CP3 to join us, these guys are getting old - that's not a real way to plan for the future.

So, the bottom line is that they are trending in a direction where they are starting to give up too much of our future. Whether they actually do or not depends on them, but based on yesterday's trade, it doesn't look promising.

I am against the Russell Move but if one thing im certain of is that the Lakers will never settle to be middle of the road.

We might swing for the fences a lot but the Lakers organization will never be okay with bunting the ball

the worst thing you can do from what perspective?

has any team actually succeeded from tanking year after year and collecting draft picks?

I have always laughed about this.. ie... the sixers are rejoicing this year and they havent done anything..

They likely will be back in the lottery next year lol..

a team of 5 number one picks still doesnt win if they all 20 years old LOL

Mediocrity is exactly where Magic is heading us.

He wants to destroy our young core in order to build a team that will have a 2 year window to beat a Warriors team at the height of their powers (guess what: we won't beat the Warriors).

Just don't (bleep) with the #2 pick.

I didn't like Russell move but it's far from our worst these past few years and it doesn't leave us in any particular bad situation.

Now if they trade that #2 pick on the other hand...

That potential Kings trade scares me.

Our future was to become the Clippers and constantly in the lottery with the "young core". George and cap space along with the LA market can land another star player. Guys like Lonzo and Ingram can grow around them.

I don't even care about the Warriors, it is was not them it would be some other great team that was built on player development like the Spurs or the Jazz ect.

We need to set our selves up for the long haul too, just like them. That means we have to build from within and make prudent FA signings on players with potential.

If yesterday was an indication of whats to come, we're headed in the right direction to mediocrity.

Besides the Warriors? And we don't have to worry about middle of the road, we are firmly entrenched at the bottom.

That's what I said. We can't trade promising youngsters for 34 years old veterans.

Do you always change the discussion when you are wrong?

the premise of the thread is it's better to be at the bottom then the middle. you gave warriors as an example of it. they never even drafted in the top 3 during their entire rebuild

warriors never tanked.
