I go to many nets game and boy can he shoot. He can shoot it from anywhere in the court at a good rate. On defense... tape tape tape |

How does a 7 footer only average 5 rebounds per game? |

He took a lot of threes last year so he was playing further from the basket. |

I went to a Brooklyn board to have a clue about what they think about this deal.
The good thing is that everybody had kindly words about Lopez.
As it was here, Russell is a polarizing figure for Nets fans too. Some folks were really happy they got a potential all star while others aren't happy with a slow footed snitch.
They didn't have young talent and still have 30 millions in cap space after absorbing Mozgov.
We got the flexibility to rebuild while we still have plenty of young talent.
That deal made sense for both parts considering actions from the past took from Nets the chance to get rewards for their mediocrity while with Deng/Mozgov contracts without any sure fire all star in place we didn't have ways to improve but developing the young talent we had praying for the basketball Gods at least a couple of them could become legit franchise players. |

Welcome back home, Brook! He's actually from North Hollywood, which is where I'm from lol. Hopefully he puts in his best effort, seeing how he's playing for his hometown team now...even if it is just for one year. _________________

Mozgov average 5 last season. At least Lopez gives us offense. |
That's true but Lopez also averaged 9 more minutes than Mozgov. Moz barely played 20 mins |
Lopez averages 7 rebounds for his career. Hopefully he can get back to that. He should be motivated as he's in a contract year. |
Let's hope. If we trade Julius we may have the worst rebounding team in the league |
Or re-sign Robinson. |

So is Brook basically a one year rental due to his cap hold and our insistence for cap space next offseason? Or is there a chance we give him an extension? It sucks trading away a future cornerstone piece for a one year rental... |

Maybe Brook can at least buy a dinner for Jim Harrick. |

You wait until next year and deal with it then. If you are talking a bigger name coming in, then it's a non-issue.
I'm sure the Ball/Brook combo will look pretty good offensively, next year. Brook is going to make life much easier for our guards with his floor spacing. |

It may help Julius and Ingram too opening lanes they can take advantage attacking the basket. |

i'm not kidding when i say this...i think lopez has a chance at being an all star this year playing with lonzo and being on a contract year. is he the all star we wanted? not really, but i think he will be fun to watch. and if he performs well, there is no reason why we shouldnt consider awarding him to a fair deal in 2018 to pair him with PG _________________ Billions Billions Billions |

The thing I like most about this situation is Brook Lopez still has one more big salary deal to sign, so he should be extra motivated in playing this year.
A guy like Hibbert had already checked out on his career by the time the Lakers got him. Lopez will make this team quite a bit better. We haven't had consistent Center scoring in a really long time, probably since Bynum. I don't think Dwight was ever a consistent bucket getter. |

Is he for sure just a one year rental? We don't have his bird rights, right? |

Put it this way. If we re-sign him next year, it doesn't bode well for the direction we're going in. Would mean we totally (bleep) the bed on our PG/LeBron or Cousins master plan. |

The Lakers have his Bird Rights. I believe his cap hold will be pretty sizeable ($30M-ish), so retaining his Bird Rights and signing two max free agents doesn't look feasible. |

I don't know...ask Hibbert and Mozgov?
Difference is Lopez is/can be a legit 20 ppg scorer _________________ "We might have had the worst season ever or could have the worst season ever for a Lakers team, but now let's have the greatest comeback that the league has ever seen." - Kobe Bryant |

I'll be honest....
I had to really WORK to try and like Hibbert and Mozgov. My initial, gut, instinct reaction to getting both those guys at C was huh, wait, what, but why...?!
Brook Lopez though? This dude can actually play. I've been wishing for 2-3 years the Lakers would seriously look at him. He is a legit C in this league. No, he is not a consistent rebounder, but he IS a legit scorer for a big man (and now shoots the 3-ball). No he's not a great defender, but he is a legit shot-blocker. He is really quite good overall. My initial, gut, instinct reaction to him was hey, woa, wow, ok then, this is actually quite good. _________________ "We might have had the worst season ever or could have the worst season ever for a Lakers team, but now let's have the greatest comeback that the league has ever seen." - Kobe Bryant |
