That's your biggest concern?
Sweet, then we're in a great position.

He never had to hold on to it long to do anything fancy because he always made quick decisions and got the ball out. I think he's game is more about effectiveness and efficiency than flash.

Watching all the prospects this year, Lonzo was easily the one I enjoyed the most. He had that "it" thing and made the game fun to watch. Hope we get to see that same thing this year.

Excited for summer league. That place is going to be buzzing.

Realized from the few videos I've seen (him at some random gym w his brothers, the one with IT in his backyard, and the Lakers workout video) that he's not bringing the ball back to his left side on the right mid range pull ups. Looks good

Embiid better not get too excited, he might tear another meniscus.

I feel like we not only got the actual number one pick, but a guy I'd match up against other number one picks. I think this kid has "it"

Embiid has averaged like 10 games a season for 3 years

He should shut it before Karma gets that ass again

He passes guys open, makes quick decisions and has great spatial awareness, but I think adding more ability to collapse the D with the handle is going to be big. It will give him even more opportunity to set guys up above and beyond what he's already doing. Teams are going to switch on him and there will be times that he can't settle against that mismatch, but will need to break that big down on a switch in a couple seconds. Once he can do that with his handle, help defenders will have to gravitate more to him. That gravity, pulling more defenders to him just another step or two, will open up a ton more opportunities with his passing game and will free his game up more with how they are going to scout/play him.

It is at same time an early reason of concern and something we have seen so many players improving. Russell is a very good example, from his rookie season to the end of his second season it was clear how much he improved his ball handling skills. The same can be said about Ingram, he was keeping the ball way lower at the end of the season changing directions more quickly too. As our leading guard I don't expect anything different from Lonzo.

I think a better question is - to your point - can anyone here list the last superstar level player who couldn't break down a defense off the dribble and get his own shot in/near the paint?

His greatest strength is something intangible, he can make everyone around him better barely doing anything. I really love the way he plays the game.

He's a generational talent.. Difficult to like though, he runs his mouth a bit too much. Maybe it was all in jest though.

Lets hope so. Lakers sorely need a new face of the franchise.

For sure. I'm just picturing how I'm going to defend him. I'm protecting against the pass as much as possible and forcing him to try to beat me on the switches when I can.

And as Nash said above, it's certainly something that we've done a pretty good job on improving in players. But that's what I'm having him work on this offseason as much as I can.

I agree on this. He made UCLA games must-see TV for me. I just hope we can get some shooting around him.

i really like lonzo, but won't get my hopes up bc of the relative disappointment we had with our other top picks (compared to KAT/Porky etc). Hoping lonzo will become an all star in year 2 though

Hopefully, Magic gets Lavar to cool it down a bit. Just let Lonzo be respectful, as he already is, and let's not have every player in the league try to kill him.

The other Laker picks were just that shooting and spacing.

I'm hoping the other guys drafted don't have to play much this year.

Counterproductive for the players coming at him. If he really is going to be as good as some of us hope, isn't it only going to boost his development if he is having to play against opponents best effort?
