I don't know about others, but Pelinka feels now like nothing more than a figurehead.

If you run a team, and you want someone to do things precisely the way you want, you know who you hire? Someone inexperienced with a willingness to learn. You know who you do not hire? An experienced pro. Now think about who we hired and who we didn't.

A first tine GM is perfect for a guy like Magic who wants to call all the shots.
Yup, that's why there is no room in the FO for someone like Jerry West. Was it Ding who wrote that Jerry West is not shy about making his feelings known, or something to that effect. So apparently Magic just want to surround himself with yes man.

Yup. Thats actually why I think hes on board with Ingram/Walton and not with Dlo. Dlo was not a yes man, unfortunately for him.

I agree. She wanted an open line of communication with Magic and Rob something she felt she didn't get with her brother.

And didn't try either

They intentionally lowered DLo's value and didn't even give him a chance to showcase himself with Lonzo. As inexcusable as the MozDeng contracts. Sad day for Laker fans.

Earvin Magic Johnson @MagicJohnson

Feeling really good about the NBA Draft. Welcome Kyle Kuzma, Thomas Bryant and Josh Hart to the Los Angeles Lakers. Let's get to work!

Mike Bresnahan @Mike_Bresnahan

Pelinka on Lopez/D'Angelo trade:

A) "We got an All-Star caliber five."

B) "Amazing salary-cap relief."

C) Got another first-round pick.

Pelinka said time spent at the Ball household earlier this week was "really one of the keys that helps us crystallize this decision."

Rob Pelinka described the front office as "smartly aggressive" in regards to possible trades

Ramona Shelburne @ramonashelburne

Rob Pelinka says the Lakers will be "sacred" about their cap space for next summer. In other words, look for lots of 1+1 deals

Shooting is at the top of the Lakers' priority list when free agency starts next week, Pelinka said.

Rob Pelinka says he thinks two superstar players need to come join the Lakers, "that's our plan."

I suspect I'll be hanging around the P&M thread more, but credit is given where credit is due. That trade was excellent and our FO has certainly earned benefit of the doubt on drafting. Excited for SPL, assuming these guys are actually on the team

Deja Vu.

Welcome back to the Mitch and Jim show from 2 and 3 years ago.

Get ready to be disappointed.

I don't think Rob Lowe left a very lucrative job that he was extremely successful at to be anyone's "yes man."

Except Mitch and Jim are no longer running this show.

Now free agents are walking into a room to speak with Magic Johnson, Luke Walton and Rob Pelinka.

It's an entirely different ballgame.

We lost a talented player in the process, but we may agree that Rob was extremely coherent talking about Mozgov/Dlo trade

Yeah but this time theres no Jim, Mitch, Byron and No Kobe on the team.

We have Magic, Rob and Luke making the pitch and no leader on the team asking for a sidekick.
