Quote:
The Chicago Bulls have moved on from Jimmy Butler in a trade that sends the All-Star guard to the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to The Chicago Tribune’s K.C. Johnson. In return, the Bulls get Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and the No. 7 pick in Thursday’s draft. The trade reunites Butler with Tom Thibodeau, who coached him through 2014 before taking a job as head coach and president of the Timberwolves last summer.

Minny lacks 3-point shooters but their perimeter defense is going to be improved and might compensate for it.

Bulls go from Jimmy Butler is our franchise guy to shipping him out 1 season later....
At least Wade can hug his paycheck, that Bulls team is going to stink.
Wolves improve a lot with this roster move, Butler gives them a veteran presence they needed.

I really don't understand why they were so insistent on trading him?

What was going on?

To me this seems like a ridiculously bad trade, though I have high hopes for Markannen

Only time will tell

So basically, the Bulls traded a top 10 player for a guy who just had an ACL tear, a guy who averaged 3.8 PPG last season, and the #7 pick.

Really stupid move especially considering they also gave up the #16 pick in that trade too.

Also they sold the #38 pick in Bell to the Warriors who is a perfect player for them.

They have the worst front office in the league by far.

Sounds like Bulls are rebuilding at this point. Thats why they traded Butler who is in the prime of his career and would be better off going to a team on the upswing.

That's a fairly disastrous trade for the Bulls. I guess they plan to tank.

That's all fine and good, but if you will go that way at least get better prospects and selections.

I thought it was a good rebuilding trade for the Bulls until they used that 7th pick to take Markkanen.

They should have picked DSJ

KAT is now their best 3pt shooter. They really need a PF who can space the floor and defend better than Bjelica as well as a deadeye shooter to come off the bench behind Butler.

Rubio/T. Jones
Wiggins/Clark?
Butler/Muhammad?
Patterson?/Bjelica
KAT/Dieng/Aldrich/Patton

Yep, but they traded for a mess of rookie contract PGs (Grant, Payne, Dunn) and didn't want to admit that none of them are likely to ever be starters.

I didn't see the Bulls also gave up the #16 pick. Never mind then.

No. Butler is the best 3pt shooter on that team.

Nobody they could have picked up this year at #7 would save them.

Disastrous move.

Kris Dunn? Not looking good.
Lavine? Awful ball stopper coming off an ACL tear.
Swap 9 spots

All for a 27 year old two way superstar. Ridiculous.

Can Butler and Towns be the next dominant wing/big combo?

They can be the 3rd team in the western conference after San Antonio and Golden State.

This trade is horrible for the Bulls. They basically gave up Butler and their pick to move up. Lavine is a dunk contest winner and thats basically it. Dunn is a bust

It would have been a lot better if the Bulls didn't give up the 16th pick too... That just seems nuts

I wonder if the Bulls would have given us Butler for Russell, Randle, Deng, #27, and #28.
