Phil pushed it too far with the Porzingis trade talk.
I believe in Phil's methods but you can't try to trade Porzingis even if he skipped a meeting.
For Phil the win here is he gets 24M in guaranteed money for a paid vacation.
For 3 years of work Dolan will pay Phil $60 M. Highway robbery, as Phil didn't even do a good job.
Isiah, Larry Brown, Mike D'Antoni, Walsh, Phil Jackson. Doesn't matter what guy goes there. It just seems under Dolan everything goes horrible for them.
No you don't wolf and your second post proves that.
He made 2 good draft picks. Literally everything else he's done for them has been an absolute disaster. Heck one of my best friends is now a Laker fan as of a few weeks ago. Phil was his last straw as NYK fan
I mean strategically. I still believe that an offense like the Triangle can work in the NBA with the right talent. If we had Kobe/Pau/LO in prime running the same sets we did in 2009-2010 we would be contenders in this era. We may lose to GST because GST has more talent than us, but it would be great match ups and we'd be right there. So I understand why strategically he wanted that. Team ball. Principles run on team work and systematic order. He drafted well for that. I don't think many people see that side of it. However the other side is awful from Phil. Bad free agent signings. Poor or so so trades. Really questionable handling of his coaches. Then to top it off the saga with Melo and then Kristaps.
Dolan's reasoning is pretty obvious. He's not going to get rid of both Melo and Kristaps to placate Phil's ego. Phil's ego and lack of people skills are what did him in. He needed to work with Melo and KP and develop bonds with them, good player/coach type of relationships. Instead he alienated both. I love Phil, and I believe in his strategic and belief in systematic play. I just don't think he realizes what a big egomaniac and lack of peolple skills he has.
I could see a Jeannie reunion which means maybe a Laker stop ahead.
Not that I want it to happen, but it could.
Jeanie is with jay mohr. And she is loyal to magic. She is so loyal to magic that she even stopped Jerry west from coming here. I feel like the only stop Phil is going is retirement in Montana

Are you saying Magic and Jerry would have been in conflict? He would have been reluctant to accept advice from West?
Is there some kind of proof Jeanie stopped West from coming home to the Lakers because Magic didn't want him onboard? I find that hard to believe.
Having posed those questions, I don't want Phil anywhere near the Lakers. He's to egotistical. I don't see a fit for him. I don't even want him coaching. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Ahh gotcha.
I don't think it's likely we'll ever see the full triangle offense in the NBA again

Phil doesn't lack people skills. In fact, quite the opposite. He's actually a very engaging character and knows how to get next to people he wants to get next to.
Phil IS shady, petty, manipulative and vindictive. That's what he is. That's what he's always been. When you're successful, people will overlook all that and even call you a genius. But when the rings stop rolling in, your true self can no longer be ignored. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe.

That would be difficult to achieve, but this is an encouraging report.
Knicks owner James Dolan is targeting Toronto's Masai Ujiri to replace Phil Jackson as N.Y.'s President, league sources tell @TheVertical.
Somehow that will be screwed up.
Too bad we couldn't get Phil to agree to a bad trade before he left.
Porzingis for Ennis and some front rows to the G-league South Bay Lakers.

The NBA is a players league. Phil tried to test that theory bringing his credentials, but his problem is that he tried to instill a system that nobody on the team wanted.

Isn't it ironic that Phil was the only GM with the foresight to draft Porzingis, yet would ultimately be driven out because of him? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

He lucked out because Philly and LA left him on the draft board.....
But even though he lucked out he stupidly considered getting one of the few good decisions he made as the GM because Porky had the audacity to cross him. Phil's ego ultimately led to his demise.

Still picked him over Mudiay, Winslow, WCS, and Stanley Johnson. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Oh Lawd! John Sally and Will Cain, who has been taking over for Stephen A and Max Kellerman are saying the Lakers current regime will respect PJ, and since the old regime is gone, they could see them working together, that PJ will be back with the Lakers leaving an imprint on the Lakers rebuilding.

I feel like Phil only took this job in the first place because he likes being in NYC and he's the kind of guy who can't really sit around and chill and stay retired. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers

I think the $12 million/year salary might have just swung things a big....
