Too bad Phil's coaching days are behind him (?)

I always thought he was what the clippers (with cp3) needed.

The Clippers are fools if they think an injury-prone fake franchise player is worth $173 million over 5 yrs. They have just sent themselves into NBA purgatory.

This is worse than if he had left. With Griffin and Jordan, they won't be good enough to be even remotely close to contenders but they also won't be bad enough to get a high lottery pick to rebuild with... Dumb move.

Not good at all. He's missed 67 games in the last two seasons combined. At least they didn't give him a no-trade clause which would've been the final kick in the head. He's IP during the playoffs when they need him the most, that plantar plate in the toe and quad issue came at the worst time.

Not sure how much of this was JWest's decision, but there is a risk that this 173 million dollar man will be providing premium seat warming services in a fancy suit at some point during the contract.

Jerry West must be biting his lip (and holding back the laughter) as he approaches potential Free Agents and tries to recruit them o the glorious, prestigious and legendary Clippers!

Griffin was drafted #1 ahead of Harden, Curry, and DeRozan. I've always felt like he's sort of disappointing for a #1 pick in such a stacked draft class.

^Disappointment is par for the course when it comes to Clipper draft picks.

Griffin was highly regarded coming out of Oklahoma, but his injuries have taken a toll on his career.

Hindsight is 20/20, but Clippers have missed out on many players: They chose Antonio McDeyss over Kevin Garnett, Chris Wilcox over Amare Stoudemire, and Michael Olowokandi (#1) over Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce.

Other draft picks affected by injuries: Shawn Livingston (#4) horrific injury to acl/pcl/lt. meniscus/ 3rd season. Danny Manning (#1 pick) acl rookie season.

So Griffin says that he wants his legacy to be as a Clipper. I started to laugh, but you know what? That might work out for him. With Sterling gone, the franchise actually has decent prospects. Twenty years from now, the Clippers probably won't be viewed as a joke.

I could see him elevating his game in order to try to make up for the loss of CP3. Just look at what happened to Kobe when Shaq left, or Westbrook when Durant left. Plus he has to justify that contract he's making.

No he doesn't, he already has the guaranteed money.

Did Mozgov and Deng justify their contracts with us?

As soon as the Clippers got their feet wet the first thing they tried to do was strike up a rivalry with us. Therefore, I take great pleasure in watching them swirl down the drain.

I would love it if Blake left and DeAndre had to suffer through a rebuild while wishing Cuban would rescue him

Difference between Blake and those 2 other guys you cited is that the Lakers didn't need to rely on them. Yeah, their contracts were awful but they had other players on the team which were much better offensive players. On the Clippers, Blake is pretty much their best offensive player.

It was widely considered a terrible draft at the time. Shows how much the prognosticators know.

That's probably why they held onto him too tight and let CP go. He wasn't one of their own. Losing or letting your #1 pick go is always portrayed as a loss and an ultimate failure of management. The league and many fans (Lakerfan and otherwise) did that when we flushed our own Number 2 (pun intended).

This is actually in line with West's past dealings. He said he loved (that word) Van Exel and Jones. They were two of his cogent picks. He did not want to do that Jones trade for the shooter Shaq was complaining that he lacked. There was a rumor in 97 about him going to Sac for Mitch Richmond and West held onto him until midseason in 99, a 50 gm year. Traded him at a loss, imo. Glen Rice wasn't Glen Rice any longer as a definitive 3rd option. Had elbow surgery on his shooting arm prior to the deal, iirc.

No, that's ridiculous. They don't even flop on the same side of the court. Chris Paul is a defensive flopper whereas Harden is a Paul Pierce-style head-jerker on offense.

People worried about how they'll fit together are totally overblowing it. Their flopping styles mesh perfectly.

Simple then. Harden drives to the lane but runs into Chris Paul. Both flop thinking they made contact with an opposing player and then somehow get a foul called on the nearest opposing player by the refs. Crockets score 200 points a game utilizing this method.

One of those things (two if you count Blake) is not like the others...

Those shirts should be burned . . . with the people who would wear such a monstrosity still wearing them.
