Figured a main post should be here for this topic.

He finally is able to leave, he also signed an offer sheet with the then Bobcats years ago as well.

This opens up a playoff spot in the West. With Memphis losing Z-bo, that may be another spot open, but Denver and Minnie are closer to competing than we are.

Boston still isn't good enough to beat the Cavs but they'll make the finals again in 2 seasons when Lebron leaves for the West.

Clippers and Utah going to be substantially worse next season.

Everything is slowly falling into place.

The Celts may not be done. I expect a trade.

Problem for the NBA is that while small markets produce a rabid fanbase, the NBA millionaires don't want to live there. Places like Sacramento, Salt Lake City aren't exactly destination cities.

Seems to be just speculation at this point, but it sure would be interesting if this were to happen.

That really isn't the problem. For example, the owner of the Jazz is a billionaire, and so are the owners of a lot of small market teams. The problem is more about attracting players -- all else being equal, most players would have rather be elsewhere than Salt Lake City.

Thats the point. The players don't want to live half of their time there. While these players can afford homes in LA, NY or Miami and live there during the summer, its the down time between NBA games where they spend their leisure time. The billionaire owners don't care. They can fly their private jets anywhere and they don't have to show up for the games except for the important ones.

Winning is more important than anything else. Lamarcus chose San Antonio instead of Los Angeles. In fact, the Lakers haven't had a decent FA since Kobe ruptured his Achilles.

KG didn't want to go to Boston and concerns over their racism. But he liked the prospects of winning with Pierce and Ray Allen.

If the NBA owners want to equalize free agency chances, then they should take state and Canadian tax laws into account when determining salaries. But they don't. Because it's just not that important enough to the NBA.

Utah should've traded Hayward last season and gotten something back. The risk of losing your greatest asset because he might stay is too great. They would've gotten some nice picks from Boston.

Cleveland should trade Kyrie and Lebron this season before they bolt as well.

I think Philly has a better chance in the post-Lebron era. Celtics have players in the win now mentality and a bunch of draft picks. Hayward, Thomas and Horford won't be dethroning the Cavs anytime soon.

they might have to give up crowder, smart and bradley for hayward.

looks like a bad deal to me. the celtics better hope tatum pans out, otherwise their depth is gone if they give up even 2 of those 3 guys.

This could actually be great for the Lakers:

Boston was the number One seed in the East last year, if Hayward helps them get past the Cav's (they will still get killed by the Warriors), then maybe that helps facilitate Lebron's exit....

if the Cavs are healthy, Boston has no chance versus them unless they get Marc Gasol.

Don't look now but the Cavs are imploding. The Kyrie situation (and the reason he's asked to be traded) has everyone on edge. Nothing but bad vibes at this moment in Cleveland. They've gone from a "sure thing" to win the East to "likely...but we'll see."
