Yeah LS I agree I'm not willing to give up on Zubac by any means, he's still got a ton of potential. Love what I saw so far from Hoosier Mamba tonight, though.
Anyone crapping on Zu for this game (a game where there is little to no structure and very little interior passing) they don't know what they're talking about. Zu isn't the energy guy and he certainly works better within a purpose driven offense (and I don't care what people point to in today's NBA, you still will need times to change the game pace and a good sized center with touch is perfect for that).
That being said, and this being about Bryant, I loved that energy and the enthusiasm he brought and look forward to seeing more as we go forward. I can see why Black might have been redundant with this guy out there now.
He's shorter than Bynum, BUT has the same standing reach as Bynum. Height is no longer the measure which matters. I liked that he was much quicker and bouncier than I expected. Looked more coordinated too. I was pleasantly surprised.
All of that doesn't even get to the intangibles and his personality. I want him to make the team on those two factors alone. Love the kid's approach.
I have a lot of respect for what Bynum did when he played with that knee injury, blocked those 10 shots, and when healthy, played really well.
The appeal of Bryant is that he, contrasted to Bynum, is more ideally suited for today's NBA. A lumbering Bynum, just like Zubac, whom I love, will have difficulty staying on the floor after a Golden State, or Cleveland, gets out running.
Bryant, otoh, has that 7'6 wingspan, a 3pt shot, and as you noted, the outstanding standing reach; couple that with his energy and what do we have on our hands?
My god, some of you people are ready to give up/poo on Zubac for 1 bad game?
Not ready to give up on him....but I would really have liked to see a couple of things in year 2 that we actually saw from Ingram last night......
I say a player slam into Ingram sending him flying on a play last night....but you can tell that Brandon had this certain toughness to him that was not there in Summer League of last year
Zu looked soft.....and while he has an excellent offensive game I really need to see my center rim protect and take hard fouls.....let opposition know he is there and they are gonna have to work for everything
Shorter Bynum. I will take it with a second round pick.
How can anyone compare him to Bynum? He's reaction time and quickness is ten times that of Bynum. If Bynum had this motor he would have been the next Shaq.
They're referring to Drew in a very narrow sense. 2007/8 before he landed on Odom's candy/crack foot. That was a long time ago, but you review that small group of games and it'll be obvious even to those of us who aren't good at player comparos. I'm more convinced because I still have a lot of those games. They're mildly depressing to watch. Drew was a MUCH lighter, friskier, sprinting, more intense and interested player. The first time in his life where he figured out what he could do given the right conditions. The Drew that came back after that all bulked up was never the same. He had his moments as that version of Drew as well (best gm was a triple double with blocks in the 2012 Denver series), but not the 2007 version. If we had had THAT 07 version of Drew with good knees and if he hadn't bulked up, he would've been a star. That's why he was frustrating as hell. He was all over the map in his career. It's like Elden. He was becoming somewhat of a beast from 94-97. Same thing happened to him. He got too heavy. Started off as a twig and went past his ideal weight. Shaq's presence completely pushed both Elden and Ced out of the paint and low block. They were done after that. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

People forget, but in terms of impact, the Drew that we saw during those 30 or so games in 2007 was on an Embiid level (without the jumpshot, but it was the pre-small ball/stretch big era).
Tonight he showed why he's a project and why Kuzma is closer than we thought. Could always flip flop but I think because big men usually have a 2-3 year growth period before they really start showing out, I think Thomas Bryant is the perfect project player for us.
Keep working on his jumper but have Kareem work with him on his post game with that left or right shoulder turn hook shot and we may have something there. That 7'6 wingspan is no joke. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

T-Bryant was a no-show tonight. I guess that should have been expected.
He's a young inexperienced work in progress. Fortunately he has some skill, nice instincts and a 7'6" wingspan.
He'll get plenty of burn in the G-league before he becomes a regular contributor.
yup.
@daphanabe is commenting on how he looked lost... yea... he's slow. if he's not 1000% on top of things mentally, then he's going to be behind plays in the halfcourt. I didn't even watch him closely, but I'm sure that was a factor in him looking lost
What happened? He looked lost out there today. Maybe a bad night at the slots?
He drew a bad match-up against SO. Dude was draining treys.
It's gonna take T-Bryant awhile to figure it out. He's destined for spot time in the G-League. But he will be fine in the long run because of his energy plus he can stretch the floor.

Note to Coach Jud: If your auditioning at all to move up the coaching ladder, you did horribly in the area of coaching leaving that young man out there.

Yeah after we tied the game in the 4th quarter, he had a couple of bad defensive plays, the one you highlighted, and the other where he didn't close out to Ojeleye on the three. Think his foot speed is an area to work on, just like Zu's.
