I don't know about other cities, but Los Angeles GETS DOWN big time on the 4th. It's been sounding like a war zone for the past 9 hours. Literally non stop

Whats legal in one state is illegal in another. I know California has some rather strict fireworks regulations in they you cannot buy exploding fireworks or fireworks that fly into the sky. Theres something like 22 other states in the US where anything goes, you can buy the ones that shoot into the sky.

I could smell the smoke from my house in RPV. Of course, that was probably from Torrance and the South Bay rather than downtown LA.

It's that one bonehead kid that blows his hand off that ruins it for everyone.

There's also mean people that put fireworks on small living creatures.

I (bleep) love fireworks. I think we should have a national fireworks day separate from July 4th.

Supposedly on the news in San Bernardino some kids were playing with an aerosol can and fireworks and blew off a hand. You can't fix stupid even with legal fireworks.

Nice find.

Nothing beats being a kid and walking up to all the glorious colors at a sidewalk fireworks booth. As a kid the paper ads, selecting, budgeting, trading and packaging were the funnest and most exciting. On par with garbage pail kids, carnival/magic/sideshow act posters, comic book shops, baseball card shows, toys r us isles, and dare I say pog hologram 8 ball slammers and side ice cream truck prices&pics menu. Visually stimulating to the maximum. Still love that (bleep) to the utmost and can stare at the stuff for supereon x infinity.

I had mad GPKs to go with the Transformers, Dladi. We coulda traded. You know anyone with 1st Series? Those things were like gold in my hood/school. Majority of converts didn't join the Bang-wagon until 3rd Series were out. Even 2nd Series were fairly scarce from my recollection.

Firework stands even had that oddly good smelling combustible carcinogen smell. I liked those snake cubes (lit the cubes til they started broiling), smoke bombs, and ground bloom flowers. Simple stuff. Sparklers, of course, pre-ban.

Haha I have one unopened pack from the 1st series and a few unopened from the second series. The prices on the 1st and second series are pretty crazy. A few years ago I opened up a pack from the 4th or 5th series and ate (tried chewing) the (bleep) stick of gum inside. Don't ever do that my brother.

I remember in 86 at Fiesta Village out there in Colton they had a card shop that was selling mint 1st series for 12 bucks a card even though they came out in 85. First series must've been a very limited trial run because I only knew one other kid who had all or most of 1st and 2nd in a binder, but he was that one kid you knew whose parents literally bought him everything. He had a Red Line bike to boot, the effer. I would've traded my GPKs for that or a Diamondback, I know that. I can still summon a fairly strong memory of the smell of those gums and the wax wrappers and cards. They smelled like the mid80s. What a time. Loved my childhood.

GPK site. Geek out, homie. Scroll feature allows you to see all cards in order. Better color versions towards bottom of page.
