EL SEGUNDO – The Los Angeles Lakers have requested waivers on guard David Nwaba, it was announced today.
Nwaba played in 20 games (two starts) for the Lakers, averaging 6.0 points (.580 FG%) and 3.1 rebounds in 19.9 minutes. The Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo product signed the first of two 10-day contracts on February 28, after tallying 14.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks in 39 games (30 starts) with the Los Angeles D-Fenders. Nwaba signed the second of his two 10-day contracts on March 11, before signing with the Lakers for the remainder of the season on March 21.

Boo.
Any way we can waive him, sign KCP, and then sign him again? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Now all that has to happen is no one claiming him off waivers and we can re-sign him with the veterans minimum. I doubt he makes it off waivers though, someone will likely take him.
We did the same with Kendall Marshall. We waived him to make the space for Boozer and were going to re-sign him back with the vets minimum. But the Bucks claimed him on the 2nd day -_- then never used him properly and then when he got injured threw him by the wayside. [expletive]ing Bucks. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Sad. Necessary evil but still sad. Hope if he gets picked up off waivers that he goes to a good situation. Good dude, great energy. If he gets past waivers I bet we sign him back up, but serms unlikely. |

If reddit is any indication, he's gonna get picked up by someone.
There's a fan from pretty much every team on that thread saying they want their GM to get him _________________ Kobe |

Wish him the best. He earned his way into the league and if he improves his shooting enough, will have a long and successful career. Hoping he clears waivers!
edit: am I right in thinking that teams now have 48 hours to make a decision on him?

This sucks man. Super cheap, really good defender with upside. I hope the FO at least tried some other move before going this route _________________ Kobe |

Yeah, I doubt he passes through. He's getting paid peanuts. Someone with cap space will pick him up. Maybe the Nets. |

Was it that necessary to waive him? is it literally to give KCP 18m instead of 17.3m? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Nwaba was barely getting minutes in summer league. Realistically he was not going to play much next season. |

I really like Nwaba, suspect jumper and poor FT shooter but we need guys like him who can be a hound on the defensive end. Love his hustle and motor. |
