Hopefully I won't have to hear this overrated guy's name pop up here again.
Better defender than KCP.
Stop.
And even if so, he plays offense like Andre Robinson. He's gone for a good reason.
I really don't get your dislike for this guy. He was the teams best defender and a high percentage shooter. We that liked him weren't deluding ourselves with his offensive capabilities, we liked his hustle , character and hard work. Go troll elsewhere now, he's gone.
I'd really like an explanation for this, though obviously one is not due. Was it a personal move based on recent acquisitions ? Or a gamble to facilitate future cap moves?

Overrated?
I can see the homerism is prevalent around here but no one thought him for a star. Just an athletic energy guy at the end of our bench who can attack the rim and play good defense.

I expected him to improve his 3 pt shot, but in the summer league, all he was doing was dunking. Woulda been nice to see if he could spot up, I believe he took one & missed, not coming back IMO we need another guard...
Ball, Pope, Clarkson & Hart, that's it!!!

We needed a defensive specialist like Artest. Shooting not required as long as can play physical, shut down defense. I felt Nwaba could be that guy but its all irrelevant now. _________________ LeGoat! LeMazing! LeGend!
Hate that the Bulls picked him up, he's an excellent defender and one of the best finishers at the rim in the league. Wish him all the best in Chicago _________________ My Dream Starting 5 next Season

We needed the cap space to offer KCP $18 mil. We only had $17.3. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

On top of that, if reports were to be believed it was also to potentially lock up Nwaba to a friendly 2 year deal AND get an extra year on Thomas Bryant's rookie contract. Look, I liked Nwaba, but I'd drive him to the airport if I knew we had to sacrifice him for KPC. It's not like the Lakers didn't like him. They just liked having KPC on the roster and an extra year on TB's contract rookie deal more than the chance of losing Nwaba and so do I.
Bummer. I guess we are crowded now at SG now with Pope/Clarkson/Hart so I understand the move. Good luck in Chicago man. _________________ "I was just letting the shots fly. You know, I don't leave any bullets in the chamber." -Kobe

Maybe we should've offered KCP $17.3M then.
To save Nwaba? Nahhh. He was just filler anyway, not a long term piece.
Congratulations, Nwaba! Thank you for all your hard work, and heart, as a Laker! Wishing you the best, going forward!
There are some that will be disappointed, but it's honestly for the best for all involved. Lakers freed some much needed extra cap space, to sign KCP, and Nwaba gets a chance to be more than another "end of the bench" guy.
Given his offensive limitations, it was going to be a hard road beating out the other players at his position. Lonzo, Clarkson, KCP, Caruso, Hart...hell. even Brewer. He wasn't likely to get meaningful minutes here, so keeping him as just a "feel good" story would be kind of selfish.
Hope he spreads his wings, and makes the best of his new opportunity!
