He's our add on piece to trading Randle, but only if we feel we can get 3 max players, and arent gonna sign Randle. Randle at 16, 9, 4 might entice a team to take Dengs salary dump. But we'd need to know we could get Lebron/George/Cousins to pair with Lonzo and Ingram. Huge risk. But Kuzma might make Randle expendable with his 3 and D play.

We don't need three max FA's next year. We'd have to give up too many of our young high value guys. Not all of next years FA's are that attractive. I'd be happy with George and possibly LeBron. This young core we have will continue to improve for many years. BI, Lonzo, Randle, Nance, Kuzma,Clarkson, Zubac, Lopez, that's a lot of talent. There's no need to for more than one or two FA's

Magic hoping for Lebron and George in tandem. Any way to Stretch Deng to keep Randle if he goes for like 20 and 10 this year and get 2 max? Would Lebron come for Durant salary and leave money on table for Randle? It will be interesting. It may just be George and Randle.

Question for more x's and o's people here : if we can't somehow dump Deng's contract is there any way we can use him in a very limited role as a backup 5 ?
i know thats not a dream defensive situation but in very special situations it could be a defensive nightmare for other teams trying to defend us with him out on the perimeter.

when Lopez sits:

Ball
BI
Deng
Randall
clarkson

Magic needs to put a small research team together to figure out how to dump deng for expiring money. Every time I think about his contract it gets worse and worse.

The worst signings in the history of the club and worthy of dismissal by those involved. Rarely do you see moves become so clearly bad, so soon as these were.

Let Clarkson ball out of his freaking mind and Chicago might think they have the next Rose and attach him for Wade.

If we want 2 including Lebron, we can't keep Clarkson, Randle AND Lopez.
Maybe neither Zubac and/or Nance if they are needed to move JC and Deng.

Randle'll better try to keep his starting gig from Kuzma.

It'll be nothing but short of a miracle.
God will.

Lopez could potentially be one of the two FA spots if LeBron doesn't sign. Look at the list of 2018 FA's, there's only a few worthy of a max slot. Of those, most aren't likely to move and sign. PG is the most viable possibility. Other than that ,things get pretty iffy.

With the emergence of Kuzma he is useless, but if we want to trade hima nd not cost us a fortune we would need to play him some so his values does not plummet even lower. Hope he is the backup SF even if his best position is PF. no space for him there.

If we get just PG13 and resign Lopez, Randle and KCP at the right prices I would be happy (ofcourse if all there show they are worth it..)

Cousins would be another possibility, that's about it realistically.

Deactivate him. Put him on a disable list. Let him buttshift on the bench. Just do whatever necessary that will not cost our young guys minutes. He could mentor and he can babysit. Then next year, see ya later and hopefully he will enjoy that paycheck.

He's not as impossible to trade next summer as he is this summer.

A little playing time, hopefully showing the league he can still play, would go a long ways towards helping him out the door, though.

He's impossible to trade with zero bad money returning, IMO, unless they do something stupid like attach Kuzma to him.

He was good for Miami playing the 4 just a season ago. Get him some time at the 4 this year and he might surprise a lot of people. I know he's entered léame brown status but remember this guy was a multiple all star and good player for Miami.
