Quote:
Coinciding with the introduction of the new uniforms, the NBA is eliminating its “Home” and “Road” uniform designations. Beginning with the 2017-18 season, home teams will pick which of their uniforms will be worn at all home games and visiting teams will choose a contrasting uniform within their own assortment.

Because of this change, Nike and the NBA worked together to create four core uniforms for each team, classified as “editions,” which draw from the rich heritage of the NBA and its respective franchises.

The Association Edition, the traditional home white uniform that all 30 teams will have in their assortment, links them as members of the most exclusive basketball club in the world. It represents an achievement that most athletes have worked their entire lives to reach.

The Icon Edition, previously known as the road uniform, represents the rich heritage and iconic identity that exists within each franchise. This edition utilizes the team’s primary color, a color that dominates the closets of the most diehard fans.

Also this season, eight NBA teams will have a Classic Edition uniform that will be available in the fall. The Classic Edition celebrates some of the most iconic uniforms in league history and can be worn at each team’s discretion.

Does this mean it's back to yellow for every home game? No more Hollywood nights black or Sunday whites?

My guess would be..

ASSOCIATION EDITION: Yellow

ICON EDITION: Purple

The other two, which I guess don’t have a name yet, would be… black and white?

And I’m guessing we’ll be one of the eight teams to get a “classic edition” uniform. Probably throwback of the 80s/90s uniform?

Wait isn't it saying that every team's association edition will be a white uniform?

I'm guessing they're speaking in generalities because every team in the NBA wears white at home except us.

Although I guess the Association Edition could be our white uniform, but we still wear the yellow at all home games.

I just wish we could get a redesign on our jersey. Now is the perfect time with this fresh new era. Updated version of this please http://www.sportsjerseypedia.com/pictures/Los-Angeles-Lakers-2011-2013-Hardwood- Classic-Jersey-uniform.jpg

One thing I'd love to see is a white version of the showtime jerseys. Used as an alternate of course.

But it sounds like the "icon" jerseys are all going to be white. So perhaps our version could look like that?

It really doesn't apply to use because we don't wear white at home that much anyway. I suppose it could mean we wear gold on the road, but I hope we keep the purple.

Things I've always loved about the Lakers:
1) Not using white as our home colour (the only team to do it)
2) Having LAKERS and not LOS ANGELES on our away jerseys

I can't wait to see what our new uniforms will look like. I hope there's a variation of our Hollywood Nights one. Or some sort of black Lakers uniform. And possible a classic 80's one that the team wore 3-4 times last season.

nike's guidelines seem to say that home jearseys will vary and the opposing team just has to contrast. so we could see purple jerseys at home games if it turns out that way. home team gets to select the color. so we may always still pick white or yellow for home games anyway. unless its Friday night, then you know...

The Celtics got 7 mil from GE for their ad. That's only like 17,500 pairs of ZO2's
